Overview

Support UNEP with communication tasks for Green Economy initiatives.

You have:

  • Recent graduates (within 1 year of graduation) or current students enrolled in the final year of a master’s or PhD programme in Economics, Public Policy, Sustainable Development, Communication, Journalism or a related area.
  • Must be able to submit a university endorsement once selected for this position.
  • Knowledge of WordPress, Canva, Mailchimp and Metricool is a plus.
  • Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations; all costs are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
  • Interns may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.

Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system. UNEP’s mission is to provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment. We aim to achieve this mission by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations. UNEP’s Industry and Economy Division supports partners across governments, private sector and civil society to develop and implement policies, strategies and practices for sustainable development. Located within the Industry and Economy Division, the Resources and Markets Branch enhances the capacity of partners to integrate environmental considerations into economic policies and practices. A particular focus of Resources and Markets Branch is UNEP’s work related to Green Economy. The intern will work with the Secretariat of the Partnership for Action on Green Economy housed in the Resources Markets Branch, UNEP. More specifically, the intern will support the following tasks: -Compose, edit, and produce written and multimedia materials for PAGE communication channels. -Publish and update content in WordPress, managing formatting, categories, and links to maintain a polished user experience. -Support the creation of web articles, blogs, interviews, and multimedia assets such as reports, infographics, videos and/or brochures. -Create graphic designs, layouts, and other visual communication assets. Knowledge of Canva is a plus. -Assist the production of the monthly newsletters. Knowledge of Mailchimp is a plus. -Support the management of PAGE’s social media presence by drafting, scheduling, and monitoring posts across all relevant platforms. Knowledge of Metricool is a plus. -Facilitate PAGE global and regional events, webinars, workshops and/or meetings, including the preparation of documents, coordination of resources and communications material. -Undertake other tasks to support the broader objectives of the PAGE communications team.
