You have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Affairs, Public Relations, Journalism or related field relevant for the role
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Communication, Marketing, Public Relations or related field
- Outstanding marketing and communication skills including proofreading, copy editing and oral presentation
- Ability to effectively engage with subject matter experts to produce communication materials
- Fluency (level C) in the English language
- Knowledge of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, or Portuguese will be an advantage
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience with social media campaigns and platforms

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The Management Services (MSD) division is committed to keeping WFP operations running smoothly and cost-efficiently, even in the toughest conditions, so the focus can remain on WFP's core mandate of serving our beneficiaries.
MSD has a broad service portfolio that enables WFP operations through management of travel services and pool of assets, provision of infrastructure and emergency response capacity through engineering services, light fleet management and humanitarian accommodation keeping our operations running smoothly and cost-efficiently, even in the toughest conditions, so the focus can remain on WFP's core mandate of serving our beneficiaries.
In line with that the WFP Fleet Centre, which is a part of the Management Services Division (MSD), is joining forces with UNHCR to launch the UN Fleet | Global Solutions centre.
The UN Fleet | Global Solutions represents a partnership initiative between WFP & UNHCR to offer leased vehicles and professional fleet management services to the wider UN System.
The vision is to provide effective, safe, efficient and environmentally sustainable fleet solutions to the UN System while achieving significant and sustainable cost savings.
To support the global launch of this partnership a Communications, Marketing & Knowledge Management Consultant is required.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Communications, MSD and working directly with the Head, UN Fleet the Communications, Marketing & Knowledge Management Consultant will have responsibilities as outlined below:
- Work directly with the GFS team and MSD Comms head to ensure the development and implementation of an external/UN-wide communications and advocacy strategy marketing the UN Fleet | Global Solutions Center to the humanitarian Nexus with the objective of onboarding participating agencies.
- Developing and vetting marketing/communications plans that are well-integrated with overall work plans and strategies for the Global Solutions Center.
- Actively promote alignment with visual identity standards as identified in the strategy.
- Support the development and implementation of an internal & external knowledge/information management strategy that enables all stakeholders and potential agencies to have access to up to date information & communication resources.
- For capacity building and engagement, develop and implement orientation modules on key marketing and communication strategies and tools to ensure effective coordination and buy-in of partners and stakeholders.
- Lead the development of standard communication materials & activities, including: Presentations, reports, videos, brochures, coordinating and facilitating webinars, etc.
- Maintain internal and external platforms specifically the UN fleet portal.
- The role may require traveling, remote working collaboration and an eventual shift in operational location.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Affairs, Public Relations, Journalism or related field relevant for the role
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Communication, Marketing, Public Relations or related field;
- Proven experience in managing and supporting strategic and day-to-day communications in a high-paced environment & visionary marketing tactics.
- Experience in conceptualizing strategies & drafting, editing, content creation, preparation of reports and presentations
Knowledge & Skills:
Outstanding marketing and communication skills incl. proofreading, copy editing and oral presentation
- Ability to effectively engage with subject matter experts to produce communication materials; curiosity to learn about technical areas of expertise; ability to lift the salient points of complex texts/situations
- Ability to work independently and in teams and to establish effective working relationships with people from different backgrounds
- Excellent task and time management skills to meet multiple deadlines
- Exceptional attention to detail and pride in high-quality work outputs
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience with social medial campaigns and platforms
Languages:
Fluency (level C) in the English language.
Knowledge of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or WFP’s working language, Portuguese, will be an advantage.
Working Arrangements
This position can be remote-based, with frequent travel as required (Budapest, Dubai, Geneva, Rome, and or other). This position may be required to relocate at a later date)
