Result of Service UNDCO LAC is seeking the services of a Communications and Design to provide support in the design and dissemination of multimedia materials in Spanish and English for the Latin America and the Caribbean region. The consultant will also support UN Country Teams in the formulation of their communications strategies and work plans and will monitor media trends in the region. The consultant will report to the UN DGC Regional Communications Officer at DCO LAC.

Expected duration The consultancy has a duration of 9 months days and will be home-based.

Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Development Coordination Office (DCO) Regional Office in Panama City provides UN Resident Coordinators – the designated representatives of the United Nations Secretary-General – with strategic support in the integrated implementation at the country level of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and SDGs.

The reform of the United Nations and the new cooperation framework is an opportunity to show the impact of the sum of the work carried out by the teams in the Latin American and Caribbean region. They are tools that adapt to the countries' needs and must focus on solutions in line with the 2030 Agenda.

The UN Regional Office has a coordination structure with the objective of achieving coherence and effectiveness in its activities. The Resident Coordinator (RC), the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) and the Office of Coordination (OCR) are part of this structure.

Among the functions of the DCO LAC is to coordinate communication and public information activities with the objective of strengthening inter-agency cooperation, ensuring coherence of messages, and increasing the profile and transparency of UN activities in the region, as well as positioning an efficient, effective and results-oriented UN.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: Academic Background: - Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Graphic Design and multimedia design or related studies. Experience: General Experience: Work experience of at least 3 years in related field. Solid computer skills, including full proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word etc), Adobe suite (premier, Adobe after effects, etc), Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and other Image editors. Knowledge and Experience with Drupal.

Specific Experience: - Previous experience with UN agencies and knowledge of the UN System. - Proven experience in multimedia content. Language: Required Languages: English and Spanish are working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
