DRC HQ to ensure global communication on the RYSE project, and to support and coordinate communication efforts related to RYSE with consortium partners. With the increase of results, learnings and good practices, the focus communication and visibility should also increase – both in Jordan at globally. For the communications department in DRC HQ to produce more contend and to plan campaigns, media products etc. it is suggested to have a direct liaison with the RYSE CMU.

The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for leading the effective implementation of RYSE master communication plan, on media products and relations, leading campaigns and ensuring delivery of content for RYSE Consortium, including creating copies for use in traditional media, establishing media relations. This person will also support and coordinate communication efforts related to RYSE with consortium partners and RYSE advocacy focal point. S/he will be managed by RYSE Chief of Party and will technically liaison with DRC HQ.

About the job

The individual will report directly to Consortium Chief of Party. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

Communication:

  • Ensure effective implementation of the communications plan for RYSE in close coordination with DRC HQ Communications Department.
  • Develop and monitor communications schedules, liaising with RYSE CMU Staff, DRC HQ and partners to ensure reports, publications, graphics and videos are produced in a timely manner.
  • Develop and proactively recommend media strategies and opportunities in alignment RYSE communication and advocacy objectives and to build brand awareness and promote the RYSE’s activities.
  • Maintain list and establish relationships with key media firms and outlets to ensure RYSE advocacy and communications materials are covered nationally and internationally.
  • Write press releases, feature stories, factsheets and opinion pieces in both Arabic and English for use in DRC channels and in traditional and online media, including newspapers, magazines and media outlets
  • Provide information on RYSE activities including sitreps and other reporting as required.
  • Ensure all RYSE communication & visibility content are up to date by scheduling regular field visits
  • Production, maintenance, and dissemination of media products and tools for RYSE partners and stakeholders.
  • Assist on preparing press/media visits.
  • Collect and systematize press and media products related to RYSE.
  • Conduct research and produce abstracts on past research/reports on relevant topics as requested
  • Support on reviewing, proof reading and ensure proper communication of RYSE events, publications, learning briefs studies and research including learning and policy & advocacy briefs
  • Provide support in drafting and creating media communications for advocacy related use
  • Support on learning and presentation events.
  • Compile and review RYSE monthly, status and annual reports directed to external stakeholders including donor and the government of Jordan
  • Support in drafting talking points for staff to use in external meetings

Coordination

  • In Jordan, coordinate inputs for press and communications products.
  • Prepare the terms of reference for RYSE Communication Working Group and Lead the facilitation of the working group, sending out meeting invites, preparing the agenda, documenting minutes
  • Ensure adherence to DRC policies and NNF requirements in all external communications for RYSE and Provide technical support to RYSE partners to ensure proper communication guidelines and polices are followed by RYSE partners.

About you

  • University degree in communication and/or journalism

Required / Desirable

  • At least 5-6 years of experience in communications, media, or journalism, preferably in an NGO or media setting.
  • Experience in writing for/collaborating with news media and magazines in Arabic and English
  • Ability to communicate technical information in an easy to understand, informative and collaborative manner through diverse channels
  • Previous experience with publications preferred
  • Experience in editing and copy editing
  • Experience in media relations
  • Strong skills in producing content for SoMe and facilitate discussion in online communities
  • Coordination of campaigns, press and high level visits to project activities
  • Good knowledge of the Core Humanitarian Standards or other accountability measures/standards
  • Motivated team player with collaborative skills at local, national and international level.
