  1. Roles and Responsibilities

The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for delivering timely and high quality external communications products for print, audio/visual and social media in English and Arabic. The positionis heavily focusedon content creation, including developing effective messaging, ensuring accuracy, and proactively identifying communications opportunities across NRC Jordan’s different program areas and in support of NRC’s key advocacy objectives.

Generic responsibilities

  • Adherence to NRC policies, guidanceand procedures.
  • Implement NRC’s systems and procedures at area level.
  • Ensure adherence to NRC policies,handbooks, guidelines and donor requirements.
  • Prepare and submit reportsand analysis.
  • Ensure properfiling of all support documents.
  • Support line managers in procedures and require supportteam trainings.
  • Management of support team.
  • Ensure development and implementation of administrative systemsand procedures.
  • Actively promotePSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards & principles within NRC and amongst beneficiaries served by NRC.

Specific responsibilities

  • Develop an annual country office communication strategy and work plans to promoteNRC Jordan programmes and provide strategic communications support to NRC Jordan’s Advocacy Strategy;
  • In coordination with the Policyand Advocacy Manager,lead on the creation of high quality external communications products for print, audio/visual and social media in English and Arabic, includingfeature and human interest stories,program

success stories, short videos and social media posts (with technical supportfrom the Regional Media Adviser and the Regional Communications Coordinator), press releases, infographics and other related materials;

  • Identify communications opportunities and productsthat are consistentwith NRC’s communications and/or advocacy strategies, including liaising closely with NRC programme teams and undertaking regular field visits to keep abreast of NRC programs and to ensure that NRC’s work is featured appropriately in various online and print platforms;
  • Regularly create content for NRC’s social media platforms; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and for NRC´s global website, and explore and utilize innovative and emerging communication tools and new media in support of the communications strategy;
  • Support programme teams to communicate success stories and program results in fulfilment of donor visibility requirements;
  • Provide guidance on donor visibility requirements, including approval processes, up-to- date logos and visibility requirements, and with support of the grants department, seek donor approval when required;
  • Review local media outlets and bring to the attention of the Policy and Advocacy Manager any stories of relevance to NRC’s core business or advocacy objectives on a daily basis;
  • In coordination with the Policy and Advocacy Manager, build strong personal relationships with core local journalists to establish trusting and reliable connections with key Arabic news organizations;
  • Represent NRC Jordan in communications conference calls, meetings and one- on-one relationships with media and communication staff in both the NRC regional office and other NRC country offices in the region;
  • Ensure that communication documents are archived appropriately in an easily retrievable electronic based filing system.
  • Support in the planning of advocacy events when required.

Qualification requirement: Bachelor degree or higher Years of Experience: 5+

  • Knowledge of communicating humanitarian needs and ethicalreporting of beneficiaries.
  • Knowledge of regional mediaand communication networks.
  • Knowledge of the humanitarian context in the region.
  • Excellent English and Arabic, oral and written(sound journalistic writingstyle).
  • Strong social media skills
  • Advanced photography, filming and video editingskills considered a plus.
  • Experience in NGO communications
  • Knowledge of humanitarian donors and experience delivering donor visibility requirements.
  • Understanding of strategic communications and how communications products can support advocacy goals.
