You have:
- A first level university degree in communications, journalism, international relations, or related field is required.
- Five years of experience in communication, including experience in writing for the web and social media and/or mass media is required.
- Proven experience developing digital content, including creating and editing multimedia materials for social media using tools like Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, CapCut or similar platforms.
- Experience in graphic design creating content such as infographics, visuals, and promotional materials tailored to print and digital platforms.
- Proficient use of graphic design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or InDesign, Canva or others, particularly in creating multimedia content for digital marketing and social media campaigns.
- Experience capturing and editing high-quality photographs during high-level events and meetings, ensuring visuals are aligned with communication goals and suitable for digital and print media.
- Fluency in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is required.
- Excellent skills in Spanish writing and speaking, and English is required.
- Previous experience with United Nations agencies, programs, and funds or similar international organization is desirable.

Result of Service
Deliverables include: - An agreed UN Panama Communications Strategy and workplan that aligns with global and country strategic communications goals, namely the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework of Panama 2026-2030, including campaigns and activities to engage with local audiences on UN priorities, coordination of public information activities, monitoring, and reporting on progress. - An agreed plan on promoting Information Integrity in Panama. Monitor mis/disinformation trends in country, including risks to the UN´s reputation in Panama. Develop and implement a UN joint response protocol, based on UN crisis communications guidance, UN guidance for strengthening information integrity during a crisis. - In collaboration with the RCO Data and Monitoring Officer, support the drafting of the UNSDCF annual report, including liaising with the UN Communications Interagency Group and developing a comprehensive outreach and communication strategy for the report. - Develop at least 10 digital content assets per month, which will consist of: • Infographics to effectively communicate key messages. • Visuals for promoting UN events and initiatives. • Design, production, and dissemination of graphic and audiovisual materials for digital platforms. - Provide coverage of at least 4 high-level events and meetings per month, including: • News articles and products for web and social media as well as for mass media outlets as relevant. - Maintain UN communications channels up to date, ensuring: • Timely, accurate, and engaging content that aligns with UN branding and messaging guidelines. - Provide communication support to the RC/RCO, including digital communications and coordinating the work of the UN Communications Group, and other related communications tasks as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities
This position is located in the United Nations Information Centre in Panama City (UNIC Panama City), within the Information Centres Service (ICS) of the Campaigns and Country Operations Division (CCOD) of the Department of Global Communications (DGC). The UNIC is part of the global network of United Nations Information Centres (UNICs), and UNIC Panama City is the principal source of information about the United Nations system in Panama. The UNIC is responsible for promoting public understanding and support for the aims and activities of the United Nations by communicating about its work and disseminating UN information materials to a local audience in English, Spanish and local languages; engaging local and regional partners; and, overall, bringing the United Nations closer to the peoples it serves. The UNIC Panama City has been integrated with the Resident Coordinator Office (RCO) in Panama since the operationalization of the United Nations development system reform on 1 January 2019. This role is critical in raising awareness of the work of the United Nations in Panama, especially important to position and support the new UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework in Panama 2026-2031. The incumbent will be responsible for designing and implementing a UN communications strategy, including communications activities, developing a workplan, creating public information content for web, social media, media outlets and other key publics, aligned with UN International Days, key reports and other UN global and country priorities. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the RCO Team Leader in Panama and the Director of UNIC Mexico.
