You have:
- Undergraduate degree (BA/BSC or other) Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Social Sciences or a related field; Extensive relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the university degree.
- At least three years of professional experience in journalism, communications or related field.
- Experience with copyediting, marketing and advertising.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Excellent use of Microsoft Word software and its functionalities.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work reliably and independently with minimum supervision.
- Previous experience working in displacement/migration-related issues and/or communications and journalism is desirable.

Result of Service
In executing the below-mentioned tasks, the consultant is to ensure coherence with the established Refugees and Trade branding (or otherwise advised) as well as alignment with guidelines stipulated in the ITC Style Guide. Output 1 by 7 September 2024: • Provide editorial, coordination, and publication support for stories, press releases, social media content and coordinate publication on corporate and programmatic channels. • Support the development of a ‘Stories’ webpage on the ITC website, in collaboration with the web developer. This includes preparing a draft layout of the webpage, identifying visual assets to be designed, as well as proposing a workflow to streamline story submissions, review, interviews with beneficiaries, and drafting processes. • Catalogue all refugees and migration related communication assets of ITC. Output 2 by 12 October 2024: • Provide editorial, coordination, and publication support for stories, press releases, social media content and coordinate publication on corporate and programmatic channels. • Support the development of a regular Refugees and Trade newsletter, including the creation of visual assets, layout of the newsletter, and workflow for data collection. • Create a communication guideline to be followed by all members of the team that details how to communicate on various platforms. • Conduct interviews, draft and finalize one Success Story featuring one beneficiary. The story must be published on the ITC website and should include all requisite components (i.e., high-quality images, quotes, beneficiary information, etc.). • Coordinate the development of three visual products: icons, assets for the newsletter, and social media card/GIFs template to promote Refugees and Trade publications. • Prepare the first draft of the Refugees and Trade newsletter and submit to programme and project managers for review and validation. Output 3 by 19 November 2024: • Provide editorial, coordination, and publication support for stories, press releases, social media content and coordinate publication on corporate and programmatic channels. • Prepare the first draft of the Refugees and Trade newsletter and submit to the project manager for review and validation. • Prepare the Refugees and Trade mailing list, set up the newsletter layout on ITC’s Outreach Tool and successfully publish the first issue of the newsletter. • Support the development of a ‘Resources’ webpage on the Refugees and Trade website, in collaboration with the web developer. This includes preparing a draft layout of the webpage, identifying visual assets to be designed. Output 4 by 27 December 2024: • Conduct interviews, draft and finalize one Success Story. The story must be published on the ITC website and should include all requisite components (i.e., high-quality images, quotes, beneficiary information, etc.). • Deliver a series of internal trainings on communications to all Refugees and Trade colleagues .

Duties and Responsibilities
ITC is the joint agency of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the United Nations (UN). It is the only multilateral agency fully dedicated to supporting the internationalisation of SMEs. ITC's mission is to foster inclusive and sustainable growth and development through trade and international business development. ITC Headquarters is located in Geneva, Switzerland. ITC projects and programmes contribute to the global efforts to achieve UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development and the Aid for Trade agenda. Refugees and Trade The Refugee and Trade Team delivers ITC’s trade-related technical assistance for refugees and other people affected by displacement and migration, incl. IDPs and returning migrants. The team is housed in the Women, Youth, and Vulnerable Communities (WYVC) section within the Division of Sustainable and Inclusive Trade (DSIT). In the contexts of displacement and migration, ITC increases business and employment opportunities, creates better access and connection to markets and improved livelihoods and resilience. These objectives are delivered through five areas of work; (1) provide firm-level support, (2) strengthening the ecosystems for inclusive refugee economic participation, (3) policy advocacy, (4) research and knowledge sharing, and (5) strategic partnerships. The goal of the consultant is to assist the above mentioned areas of work by supporting the team on communications and visibility. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES The incumbent will work for ITC’s Refugees and Trade team under the direct supervision of the Associate Programme Officer and under overall guidance of the Head, Refugees and Trade. The Consultant is expected to perform the following duties in support of both project and programmatic needs: Writing and Copyediting: • Draft and edit web stories, news updates, and press releases. • Draft and edit social media content, schedule and coordinate the publication of social media content on both programmatic and corporate digital platforms. • Update web content on the Refugees and Trade website on a regular basis. New Communications Products and Initiatives: • Support the development and design of Refugees and Trade communications products, incl brochures and newsletters. Events: • Support projects with event organization, especially with respect to communications, design, and writing. Publications: • Coordinate the editing and design of publications, in collaboration with project managers, editors, and graphic designers. Visual Products: • Support the development of new visual assets for the initiative. • Prepare digital cards, carousels, and flyers and enhancing existing design templates.. The consultant is obliged to provide full access to ITC external and internal auditors to documents and information. In addition, the contractor shall comply with any audit undertaken in line with the financial regulations and rules of the United Nations. Copyright Clause: The Consultant has to ensure that s/he has obtained the necessary permissions with regard to intellectual property rights required to perform his/her services under this consultancy contract and for the subsequent dissemination by ITC in any form. Documentary proof is to be submitted to ITC. Should any license fee be due for the use of copyrighted materials of third parties, the Consultant shall request prior written permission from ITC. S/he has further to ensure to obtain accreditation to event(s), if required.
