The Division of Administration (DA) is responsible for the overall planning, development, management, and delivery of all administrative support required by ESCAP to fulfil its mandate in an efficient and cost-effective manner, ensuring that the Commission adheres to the established UN regulations, rules, policies and procedures in all operational areas.

Aligned with the DA's overarching responsibilities, the Office of the Chief (OC) is dedicated to enhancing cooperation and coordination across essential administrative/functional domains, enabling the Division to provide comprehensive and effective operational support services through streamlined and innovative business processes.

Under the direct supervision of the Administrative Officer, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

Contributes to creating targeted information communications for specific audiences, encompassing various formats such as press releases, reports, brochures, briefings, video clips, newsletters, websites, project factsheets, photoblogs, etc.

Tracks, researches and analyses information on topics/issues concerning DA;

Supports project development, implementation and reporting on DA projects, deliverables and initiatives;

Supports the DA-OC team in organizing outreach, workshops and other related events including organizing meetings, liaising with relevant parties, drafting meeting information notes, proposing agenda topics, and tracking follow-up actions;

Perform other tasks as assigned.

Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded; 

Bangkok allowed basic living needs, including accommodation, banking facilities, medical facilities and telecommunications/internet services are readily available. All staple foods can be found in the markets, eg: rice, meat, vegetables, fruit, cooking oil, salt, etc. Many imported goods are available in Bangkok and other places throughout Thailand. Bangkok has many good restaurants with good health standards and most guesthouses provide food. In Thailand, the most used means of transportation are taxi or local bus. Mobile phone is the most dependable tool to be in-touch with colleagues and friends. Internet service is readily available and affordable at most apartment complexes. ATMs are everywhere in Thailand and Western cards can usually be used to withdraw Thai Baht. For those with children, schooling options in Bangkok are to be well evaluated and determined before taking your children at duty station. School fees and area really depends on your preferences. Admission fees for school in Thailand ranges from $3,000 - $9,000 and tuition fee from $5,500 - $25,533 (per annum). Depending on educational quality and the area which comes with price tags, you may need to explore more on schools to find out what they could offer that serves the needs of your children. No specific allocation is available for schooling and Volunteers will need to bare the entire costs.
