You have:
- A minimum three years of relevant work experience in digital and social media, communications and/or public relations;
- Knowledge and use of leading social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and others;
- Demonstrated understanding of design tools and softwares (Canva). Adobe design suite is desirable
- Photography experience and basic skills in video editing and production will be an advantage
- Demonstrated experience in conceptualising and designing communications materials and collaterals
- Fluency in English and Hindi (written and spoken) required.

The India Country Office is now in its 10th Country Programme (CP-10). CP-10 envisions an India where every woman and young person, including those from the most vulnerable groups, enjoys gender equality, fully realises sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights, and fully contributes to sustainable development. Guided by the new UNFPA Strategic Plan, 2022-2025, the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the new country programme will galvanise efforts to end preventable maternal deaths, unmet need for family planning, and gender-based violence and harmful practices, including in humanitarian situations. 17. The country programme was developed in consultation with national and State governments, civil society, United Nations organisations and other stakeholders, including women and youth-led organisations, based on the principles of inclusion, human rights and gender equality.
State context:
The national UN Volunteer Communications Associate will play an active role in increasing the visibility of UNFPA Bihar programmes and advocacy interventions in among its stakeholders.
The Communication Associate will be a part of an exciting and dynamic team with opportunities to learn, contribute and co-create solutions which have lasting impact.
As part of the UNFPA Bihar State Office and under the direct supervision of the Head of State, and in close coordination with the Communications and Media unit at UNFPA Country Office, the national UN Volunteer Communications Associate will be responsible for undertaking the following activities:
• Support in the execution of state specific communications and media strategy and plan • Develop programmatic communications products such as, brochures, leaflets, facts sheets, and posters • Develop innovative communication materials such as training toolkit, BCC modules aimed at community advocacy and engagement • Document flagship programmes and turn it into compelling products such as success stories, case studies, testimonials , human interest stories • Assist in proofreading and editing reports, documents as well as developing content for talking points, remarks etc. • Support the team with curation and coordination of events, campaigns, workshops highlighting the work of UNFPA Bihar and building relationships within the ecosystem • Liaise with the Communications and Media Unit in organising media workshops, media visits, press release and media information kit • Liaise with the Communications and Media unit and highlight state specific events via social media reportage and posts. • Perform any other duties as requested by the State Head.

Located on the south bank of the river Ganga, it has an estimated population of more than 6.0 million people. An administrative and educational centre of Bihar, it is well connected by railway and road. Patna is an ancient city with rich cultural heritage. Its glorious past of Magadh Empire goes back to 600 BC. It has seen the reign of Samrat Ashok with flourishing Buddhism. It has been considered once a place for Persian study. Takht Sri Patna Sahib is one of the Five Takhts of Sikhism and consecrates the birthplace of the tenth Guru of the Sikhs, Gobind Singh. Living conditions are normal with basic amenities and comfort of livelihood available
As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in Patna, Bihar. National UN Volunteer is part of the malicious insurance plan. National UN Volunteer are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions.
The contract lasts for the period indicated above with possibility of extensions subject to availability of funding, operational necessity and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectation of renewal of the assignment.
The applicable Volunteer Living Allowance is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents - except for UN Community Volunteers), as well as final repatriation (if applicable).
