You have:

- Minimum 3 years of experience in communications and media, journalism, creative writing, editing, social sciences or another relevant field.
- Experience producing and interpreting web or social media analytics to inform strategies and work plans is essential.
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Strong editorial judgement, including ethical and political awareness.
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office essential; Adobe Photoshop and/or Canva is essential).
- Ability to work positively under pressure

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The Communications Assistant will work in the Communications Unit and in collaboration with the other units of WFP. This post is based in Amman, Jordan and follow under the direct supervision of the Communications Officer in the Country Office.
JOB PURPOSE
To support the communications team with creating content to enhance the visibility of WFP’s work in Jordan and support fundraising activities through social media activities, in addition to writing stories and case studies collected from the field.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
1. Write and pitch stories about WFP's programmes and staff for use with donors, publication in national and international media or on WFP's website or social media channels 2. Draft and translate news releases for local, national or international media 3. Conduct research with beneficiaries, partners and / or WFP units and offices to gather or support the development of stories, videos and social media content including programmatic and financial information if required 4. Support the Communication with Communities (CwC) programme by preparing key messages, reviewing and summarizing feedback, and proactively suggesting initiatives to counter misinformation, educate communities on WFP assistance and promote healthy practices 5. Assist the production of multimedia content with editing, translation, subtitles 6. Prepare and suggest social media content following an editorial calendar 7. Support social media contents with initiative and creativity, such as by identifying influencers, crafting strategies, developing visuals and editorial lines 8. Help the development and distribution of communications trainings and guidance to staff or to WFP stakeholders, including through events and workshops 9. Support donor relations, document donor contributions and create content packages for donors 10. Respond to internal queries and requests for communications support, using initiative and following standard WFP processes and guidelines (branding, visibility…) 11. Track performance of communications activities and outputs or outcomes including social media with analytics; report on communications activities to other units and senior management.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.
Experience: • Minimum 3 years of experience in communications and media, journalism, creative writing, editing, social sciences or another relevant field. • Experience producing and interpreting web or social media analytics to inform strategies and work plans is essential. • Experience in developing and writing copy for social media videos, photos and written content.
Language: Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic.

• Strong communication skills both written and verbal • Strong editorial judgement, including ethical and political awareness. • Proven skills in communication, networking, negotiation, and ability to relate to different audiences. • Excellent command of English and Arabic with highly developed writing and editing skills. • Excellent computer skills (MS Office essential; Adobe Photoshop and/or Canva is essential). Familiarity with Trello is an asset. • Knowledge in using digital tools such Canva, Hootsuite or other similar tools is essential. • Skills in graphic design, photography, and video production is a plus. • Has attention to detail and proven track record of delivering high-quality work on time. • Ability to work within a team • Ability to work positively under pressure
