ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT:

These jobs are found in Headquarters (HQ), Regional Bureaux (RBs) and Country Offices (COs), and report to a Communications Officer or the designate.

Job holders at this level take responsibility for completion of a range of communications processes and activities requiring some interpretation of standard guidelines/practices.

JOB PURPOSE:

To perform general administrative and some specialised communications processes that support the creation of communications content and the delivery of communications services aimed at maintaining and enhancing WFP’s visibility and reputation and supporting fundraising activities. The main focus shall be supporting with multimedia production and graphic designing.

JOB PURPOSE: To provide support to the implementation of the country communications plan with focus on facilitating the use of multimedia in both internal and external communications across WFP in Cameroon.

WFP Cameroon Country Office

Since 1978, WFP has actively assisted humanitarian and development interventions in Cameroon. Between 2014 and 2019, WFP has provided lifesaving and resilience building, food and nutrition assistance to refugees, internal displaced people and local communities, which has contributed to stabilizing the food security situation among vulnerable groups in Cameroon in pursuit of Zero Hunger.

WFP now operates through its main office in Yaoundé, with five Field Offices in Maroua (Far North), Ngaoundere (Adamawa), Bertoua (East), Buea (South West) and Bamenda (North West) and three antennas in Meiganga (Adamawa), Batouri (East) and Kousseri (Far North) to ensure proximity with the beneficiaries. This position will be based in Yaoundé.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority):

1. Support the Communications and Partnership Unit in the production of audio-visual materials in line with the Country Communications, Advocacy and Marketing strategy.

2. Create visual, audio, and multimedia that clearly articulate WFP Cameroon’s key messages. These may include (but are not limited to) videos, brochures and posters and other print materials

3. Apply 'best practices' in graphic design/video production and communications to ensure all work produced is clear and visually appealing

4. Support the capacity building of unit staff in the use of videos and graphic design tools (e.g. Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premier Pro, CyberLink, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop...) to be able to record and / or minimally edit materials.

5. Support the production of high-quality communications material for dissemination across WFP’s channels (social media, etc.) as guided by the CAM strategy and in line with the branding guidelines of the organisation

6. Provide support in liaising with the government, UN agencies and other key stakeholders on joint events, meetings, press trips, etc. in line with the country CAM strategy.

7. Respond to a variety of queries and requests for support, following standard processes, and obtaining guidance as required, to ensure timely and accurate resolution of all enquiries.

8. Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP is able to quickly respond and deploy needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis.

9. Other as required.

Qualifications & Key Requirements

  • A post-high school certificate in a multimedia related discipline
  • 1 – 2 years relevant work experience in graphic design/layout, content & filming experience including video editing and post production
  • Fluency (level C) in one official language (English or French) and working knowledge of the other
  • experience in drafting and following a production timeline
  • Creativity and ability to anticipate deadlines, and plan tasks accordingly. Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative work teams as well as ability to work independently and show initiative.
  • Cameroonian nationality.

  • Previous experience working with humanitarian sector is appreciated
