Manage social media for UN in the Pacific and support communication strategies.
You have:
- Journalism, or Communications, or other relevant programmes; experience with UN is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization.
- Experience in digital communications/social media management is an advantage.
- Experience in photography and videography is an asset.
- Excellent oral and written skills; excellent writing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development.
- Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel.
- Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in Canva, Capcut, and Trello. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite is an added advantage.
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines.
- Have affinity with or interest in multilateralism, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN system.
Contract
This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.
The Office of the UN Resident Coordinator provides leadership to the UN Country Team and the UN’s programming work, as outlined in the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, in support of national priorities. The Resident Coordinator to Fiji, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu & Vanuatu is Mr Dirk Wagener.
This UNV assignment will see the incumbent join the communications section of the RC’s team and support the Communications & Advocacy officer, Pacific UN Communications Group, and other activities where necessary
Under the leadership and guidance of the Communications and Advocacy Officer the UNV will:
• Manage the the UN in Fiji, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu’s social media platforms, • The UNV will be required to design social media posts, collate pictures and edit videos to maintain a robust presence that communicates the impacts of our work, • Provide support with amplifying global and regional communications priorities, • Provide support to the UN Communications Group Secretariat for joint communications and advocacy strategies and meetings, • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

This is a national UN Volunteer assignment. The UN Volunteer is responsible for arranging their own housing and covering other living essentials during the assignment. UN Volunteer entitlements and allowances:
The allowances provided aim to enable UN Volunteers to maintain a modest and secure standard of living at the duty station. They do not constitute compensation or salary for the volunteer service. • Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA): FJD 2,247.16 • Entry Lump Sum: USD 400 (one-time payment) • Medical and Life Insurance: Coverage under the Cigna policy • Leave Entitlements: Annual leave, sick leave, learning leave, maternity/paternity leave in accordance with the UNV Conditions of Service • Learning and Career Development: Access to UNV’s learning platforms and professional development resources
Exit Lump Sum: FJD 187.26 per month served, payable upon completion of the assignment
