You have:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant area, e.g. graphic design, data analytics, communications or a related field; OR Vocational diploma in the graphic design field
- 1-2 years of professional work experience in graphic design, data analytics, communications or a related field, or other relevant programmes
- Proven track record in designing visually engaging infographics on complex issues including qualitative and quantitative research and evidence
- Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills
- Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Fluent in English and Arabic
Contract
This is a UNV National Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Youth contracts.
Description of task
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Head of Communications or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Communications Assistant will:
- Conceptualize and suport the design of visuals, infographics and data vizualisations for a range of products and materials for WFP Palestine’s internal and external communications
- Using input from the Communications team, transform communications messages into infographics or other graphic products in a professional, appealing and timely manner;
- Draft and layout annual reports, formal publications such as case studies or technical research and ensure that key messages come across clearly and in an interesting way;
- Deliver creative and innovative ideas for print, web and interactive presentations/briefings to convey food security messages in simple and comprehendible manner;
- Provide genuine and well-thought out ideas for complex issues across a range of audiences for WFP’s internal and external communications products.
- Maintain and strengthen WFP Palestine CO branding, reports, focusing on achievement of the following results:
- Safeguard and ensure that all publications, reports and products are produced in line with the graphic guidelines provided by WFP globally;
- Understand, keep current with, and apply data visualization techniques and strategies for data in all media.
- Support in the Design and layout of information products including routine public reports, focusing on achievement of the following results:
- Support and lead the design process of reports and presentations for printing, electronic distribution and in-person delivery;
- Layout weekly, monthly and other recurrent reports in close cooperation with the relevant units;
- Draft a Design templates for new publications and products in line with graphic guidelines and in close cooperation with the relevant units;
- Maintain templates (Word, PowerPoint etc) and give technical support to use those templates among the team;
- Improve and edit art-works, photos, charts and other graphic elements;
- Assist in establishing and be responsible for maintaining the photo archive.
Educational additional comments
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area, e.g. graphic design, data analytics, communications or a related field; OR Vocational deploma in the graphic design field
Experience remark
- 1-2 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in graphic design, data analytics, communications or a related field, or other relevant programmes; experience with desktop publishing is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization;
- Proven track record in designing visually engaging infographics on complex issues including qualitative and quantitative research and evidence is an asset.
- Good knowledge in concept and creation of specific graphic design assets, including infographics/fact graphs (for print and digital), data visualization
- Experience in digital animation is an asset.
- Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;

- Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
- Sound security awareness;
- Have affinity with or interest in Food Security, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
