This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of Communication Associate the national UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

1. Support the implementation of Country Office (CO) communication and advocacy strategies and CO publications policy focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Monitor and analyze national and international media and share information with the management and staff;
  • Draft and/or edit a range of materials, including press releases and advisories, speeches for UNDP management, news briefs, fact sheets for inclusion in media kits and further public outreach;
  • Create and maintain relations with the media and journalists;
  • Arrangement of briefings and regular meetings with other UN agencies in the CO and with national and international media;
  • Dissemination of information and publications; assistance at public events such as roundtable discussions, press conferences, briefing sessions, interviews;
  • Collection of information, preparation of content for the web sites;
  • Manage UNDP’s online presence including social media and website;
  • Logistical support to UN information campaigns (UN Day, World AIDS Day, etc.);
  • Administrative and logistical support to the communications team, including for initiatives such as media workshops, press briefings, report launches, etc;
  • Budgetary support in Atlas as required, including creation of vendors;
  • Review of translations, contacts with printers and other suppliers to ensure production.

2. Facilitation of knowledge building and management focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Identification, documenting and drafting of best practices and lessons learned;
  • Participation in training for the CO staff on effective communications and advocacy.

Educational additional comments

University degree desirable, but is not a requirement.

Experience remark

  • 3 years of relevant experience in communications, public relations and administration;
  • Experience in the usage of computers and design applications
  • Experience in handling of web based management systems.

Language skills

  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
