Overview

Create and implement communication plans for UN initiatives.

You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, graphic design, film production, digital marketing, advertising, or related fields is required.
  • Five years of experience in communication, including writing for the web and social media.
  • Proven experience developing digital content and editing multimedia materials for social media using tools like Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, CapCut or similar platforms.
  • Experience in implementing communications plan tailored to specific audiences and in various formats including print and digital platforms.
  • Experience capturing and editing high-quality photographs during high level events and meetings.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Excellent skills in Spanish writing and speaking, and fluency in English are required.
  • Previous experience with United Nations agencies, programs, and funds is desirable.

Result of Service

• An agreed workplan that aligns with global and country strategic communications goals, primarily to engage with local audiences on UN priorities “UN80” and “Information Integrity”. • Create specific communications action plans for each of the initiatives mentioned above, including suggested actions, publics and means of communication to position the programs vis-à-vis national counterparts, civil society, private sector, youth, women, the media, and other partners as relevant. • Coordinate public information activities, monitoring, and reporting on progress of the two initiatives mentioned above. • Producing and coordinating multimedia content, which should include at least 6 human-interest stories. • Producing social media content for UN80 and Information Integrity on a weekly basis. Content should align with UN branding and messaging guidelines. • Effectively disseminate content for target audiences, including news articles and products for web and social media as well as for mass media outlets as relevant. • Create and maintain a database of communities of practice for UN80 and Information Integrity up to date.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the UNIC Mexico Director, the individual contractor will work closely with the UN Systemin Mexico and partners to implement two program priorities. This year the UN is celebrating its 80th anniversary and the UN in Mexico will implement an important project and campaign on the occasion. In addition, DGC has prioritized Information Integrity. The incumbent will help design, implement and follow-up on an Plan of Action, as well as report on progress. In addition, the incumbent will support other UNIC Mexico activities as assigned.

Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, graphic design, film production, digital marketing, advertising, and/or related fields. Five years of experience in communication, including experience in writing for the web and social media and/or mass media is required. Provenexperience developing digital content, including creating and editing multimedia materials for social media using tools like Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, CapCut or similar platforms. Experience in implementing communications plan tailored to specific audiences and in a variety of formats, including print and digital platforms. Experience capturing and editing high-quality photographs during high level events and meetings, ensuring visuals are aligned with communication goals and suitable for digital and print media. Fluency in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is required. Previous experience with United Nations agencies, programs, and funds is desirable.

Languages

English and Spanish are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, excellent skills in Spanish writing and speaking, and fluency in English is required.
