Lead and develop UN Habitat's communication and information management services.
You have:
- Minimum four (4) years of professional experience in the areas of communications and public relations, as well as in the management of digital content.
- Advanced degree in areas related to social communication, journalism, and/or social sciences is required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to articulate ideas clearly, including preparation and editing of documents, reports, and summaries.
- Knowledge of concepts and approaches relevant to the development of the training strategy and independent analysis.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and carry out proper planning.
- Previous experience in the design and development of communication strategies with international cooperation agencies will be assessed.
- Language of the consultancy is Spanish and English; other United Nations languages are a plus.
Result of Service The consultancy consists of the following products, these being more non-limiting: - Monthly reports of developed activities.
The consultant will work under the supervision of the Roi Chiti, UN-Habitat Head of Office and Adriana Plata, the Programme Specialist of the project, in the achievement of the project objectives.
The consultant will maintain close communication with office consultants, headquarters consultants, and external consultants, as well as with Officials of the United Nations System in order to maximize synergies and ensure the implementation of activities.
Work Location Home-based
Expected duration The consultant shall have a contract for six (6) months with the possibility of extension.
Duties and Responsibilities - Lead the development and dissemination of UN Habitat communication and information products and services, ensuring that the communications manual made specifically for the implementation of the “Inclusive cities, solidarity communities” project is fulfilled and ensure that they are consistent with the agency's communications guidelines. - Coordinate and follow up on the implementation of the project visibility plan cities including solidarity communities - Lead the technical roundtable and the Interagency group of communications of the project; as well as comply with the established communications process. - Being the liaison for donor relationships, as well as partner agencies in all communications and visibility issues. - Support the project team with the internal communication (UN Habitat, IOM, UNHCR and European Union) of the “Inclusive cities, solidarity communities” project. - Keep up to date on issues and developments related to asylum/migration, as well as the work of project partners on the specific theme. - Develop, maintain, and track the information that is necessary to update web pages, and content management systems for the Internet, in accordance with the communications manual. - Manage partnerships with national and local media to make project management visible, promote content and maximize the impact of promotional goals. - Produce communication materials and public information for print/electronic/voice/visual media.
- Advise the organization and/or participation of the project in events related to its objectives.
- Anticipate and solve communication/public relations problems when needed.
- Evaluate the results and impact of communication activities; Reports on developments, trends, and attitudes regarding the implementation of the project
Support advocacy, awareness and outreach activities and events, as well as awareness campaigns and other advocacy activities related to the project

Academic Qualifications: Advanced degree in areas related to social communication, journalism, and/or social sciences is required. A first degree in the above-mentioned areas with an additional two years qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Experience: Minimum four (4) years of professional experience in the areas of communications and public relations, as well as in the management of digital content. Previous experience in the design and development of external and internal communication strategies and/or with an international cooperation agency will be assessed. Language: The language of the consultancy is Spanish and English. Other official United Nations languages will increase the score.
