Contract

This is a UNV National University contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National University contracts.

UNDP Indonesia, in partnership with the Tanoto Foundation and the Ministry of National De-velopment Planning, establishes the SDG Academy Indonesia to develop capacities of state and non-state actors and leaders from various stakeholders, in the mission of accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) relevant to their context. The Academy aims at strengthening not only the stakeholders’ knowledge about SDGs but also their leadership and managerial skills needed to solve various SDG issues, through the SDG Leadership Program, the SDG Mobile Learning Program, and the SDG Study Abroad Program (on pipeline). After the soft launch at the end of 2019, the SDG Academy Indonesia ramps up its preparation and production on materials development and the digital learning platform construction in 2020. The SDG Leadership Program and the SDG Mobile Learning Program are both launched and continuously promoted to be accessed. The programs are targeting large size of population in Indonesia and it is expected that many will participate actively in the platforms.

To optimize SDG Academy Indonesia’s programs visibility and ensuring high level of engagement with target beneficiaries and stakeholders, constant communications and campaign by creating annual program communication plan, implement communication activities through content productions and engagement in both digital and non-digital platforms towards continuous improvement are required.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of SDG Academy Indonesia Director or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Communications and Campaign Officer for SDG Academy Indonesia will:

a) Support the SDG Academy Indonesia to ensure annual communication strategy being implemented; · Develop annual communication strategy, including key messaging, to showcase SDG Academy Indonesia’s programs and to engage both existing and potential participants; · Develop the structure and draft key messages for annual reporting document for stakeholders; · Coordinate with and assist the Director to provide other services related program communication.

b) Plan and Implement Communication Activities; · Support the launch of programs by creating compelling content for digital and social media channels, press release for media, and/or other initiatives; · Managing communication channels of the SDG Academy Indonesia, including not limited to digital and social media channels; · In charge for the production of communications materials including digital and social media content, visual design communication, infographics, publications and promotional items, videos, etc; · Identify opportunities to build the visibility of SDG Academy Indonesia’s programs through strategic partnerships, whether through campaigns, events, or other communication initiatives; · Identify and write/edit stories highlighting participants experiences during programs as well as alumni’s stories; · When necessary, assist organizing virtual events, managing multiple work streams including speakers, moderators, run of show, scripting and media attendance for other SDG Academy Indonesia’s initiatives.

c) Monitor and Evaluate Communication Initiatives; · Monitor emerging issues, feedbacks, and/or potential risk from communication channels and report to the SDG Academy Indonesia team; · Propose contingency plans or improvement ideas for better communicating the programs.

d) Knowledge Sharing · Promotes knowledge sharing on new approaches, thinking and ways of communications and campaign; · Develops and produces contents that inform strategic information and initiatives through social media platforms; · Continuous improvement to optimize the benefit of communications strategy.

e) The incumbent of the position should avoid any kind of discriminatory behavior including gender discrimination and ensure that · Human rights and gender equality is prioritized as an ethical principle within all actions; · Activities are designed and implemented in accordance with “Social and Environmental Standards of UNDP”; · Any kind of diversities based on ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, disability, religion, class, gender are respected within all implementations including data production; · Differentiated needs of women and men are considered; · Inclusive approach is reflected within all actions and implementations, in that sense an enabling and accessible setup in various senses such as disability gender language barrier is created; · Necessary arrangements to provide gender parity within all committees, meetings, trainings etc. introduced.

f) Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

This position is located primarily at SDG Academy Indonesia Campus, which is embedded to the Tanoto Foundation Building and located at the center of Jakarta, Indonesia with many affordable accommodation options surround the area – this project office is fairly close to the UNDP Country Office, as well as to premium shopping district, medical facilities, and baking facilities. Access to public transportation is also easy (e.g near to MRT stations, TransJakarta bus stops).

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan.

All staple foods such as rice, bread, meat, vegetables, fruits, salt, sugar, cooking oil, etc. can be found in the markets, along with basic hygiene products and household supplies, including variety of imported goods. Almost all items can also be ordered for delivery (from grocery to cooked food to household essentials) through various mobile applications. Jakarta has numerous good restaurants as well as plenty of attractive malls and shopping centres, making it one of the most vibrant cities to live in South-East Asia.

Jakarta’s climate is generally hot and humid, with the Indonesian wet and dry seasons dividing the year in two. Average temperature is in the upper 30°C range year-round, and the rainy season lasts between November and March. The most used means of transportation are taxi or local bus. Mobile phone is the most reliable tool to communicate, and internet services are readily available at the apartment complexes. ATMs are located on every other street in Indonesia and international cards can usually be used to withdraw Indonesian Rupiah.
