Result of Service Coordinate, report and communicate with/to UNCG In collaboration with the UNCG, (identify opportunities, encourage outreach, link to other platforms and websites).

Keep update the UN in Kyrgyzstan website with latest information across its sections with statements, press releases, publications, information (mission statements, contact details, etc) about the UN, the UN Country Team, and UN media team, etc. in three languages, Kyrgyz, Russian and English.

Maintain the vibrance of the UN in Kyrgyzstan social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube and Flickr) maintained with regular updates of the results and events held.

For the Resident Coordinator, draft and revise joint messages, press releases, talking points, and statements in accordance with communication objectives, including those for crisis communication.

UN campaigns: Initiate, support and participate in UN/joint campaign-specific planning meetings covering logistical issues (budget distribution, vendors, partners involved, list participants, etc).

Public events: Support organization of public events, including related to the UN campaigns, ensuring UN system-wide involvement and high-level and inclusive representation of partners, with relevant SDG visibility. This includes planning and organization and arrange media coverage. (Deliver on: writing, preparing presentation of, developing designs and layouts, editing, development of concepts, press releases and other news coverage, coordination with partners, drafting briefings and speaking points, with audience including UN agencies and non-UN partners).

Support the publication of substantive publications of the RCO, such as the CCA Update, the Annual UNCT Results Report, etc. (deliver on: development of templates, common features, human stories, coordination with editors, layout, proofreading, etc.). Any other task assigned by the Resident Coordinator or his/her staff officer.

Duties and Responsibilities The objective of the consultancy is to provide communications and advocacy support to the Resident Coordinator in discharge of his/her duties as the highest-ranking official of the United Nations in the country.

Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationships: This consultancy assignment resides in the United Nations Resident Coordination Office (RCO) in the Kyrgyz Republic and reports to the Head of Office. The incumbent needs to maintain a close working relationship with the United Nations Department of Global Communications (DGC), which sets the communications and advocacy priorities of the UN around the world, and with the United Nations Communications Group (UNCG) at the country level.

1. Contributes to strategic advocacy and programme communications in support of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2023-2027 of the Kyrgyz Republic. 2. Assists in partnership building and media relations. 3. Provides substantive support for digital communications. 4. Supports publications and branding management. 5. Assists in the local promotion of United Nations global communications and advocacy priorities on the work of the United Nations in key thematic areas of the UNSDCF and the UN’s normative agenda.

Qualifications/special skills Education: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in communication, journalism, international relations or related area. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in programme communications and advocacy in the context of development is required.

Languages Fluency in English and Russian is required; knowledge of the Kyrgyz is highly desirable.

Additional Information Additional requirements: This assignment is in the national context, i.e. functions that require national experience or knowledge of the national language, culture, institutions, and systems. Therefore, this assignment is open to the Kyrgyz nationals only.
