Result of Service
The consultancy service is expected to have raised the visibility of the UN work in Angola, and the visibility of the Resident Coordinator through a strengthened and robust, and consistent communication of activities related to the UN’s work in Angola, specifically initiatives of the RCO, the UN Country Team (UNCT) and the UN Development Coordination Office.

Duties and Responsibilities
Purpose of the assignment: High level and strategic communications products delivered. Responsibilities: Within delegated authority, the Communications and Advocacy Consultant will be responsible for the following duties: 1. Research and produce speeches for the Resident Coordinator, and other senior officials if required. 2. Produce other communications documents and tools requested by the Resident Coordinator. 3. Plan and produce strategic, advocacy and programme communications (including digital communications through website and social media channels) in support of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF). 4. Support the DGC-provided Communications Officer in their functions, including partnerships building and cultivation, media relations, event management, etc. 5. Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications/special skills
A first-level university degree is required, preferably in communications, journalism, international relations, economics, social sciences, or related area. A Master's degree, preferably in similar areas, is desirable. A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in programme communications and/or advocacy in the context of international development or other areas of United Nations activities is required. Strong experiencing in drafting documents in Portuguese is required. Experience working on communication activities for an international organization comparable to the United Nations in lusophone countries and the region is desirable. Experience developing and implementing strategic, multimedia communications campaigns for a diverse audience is desirable. A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in programme communications and advocacy in the context of international development or other areas of United Nations activities is required Experience working on communication activities for an international organization comparable to the United Nations in lusophone countries and the region is desirable Experience developing and implementing strategic, multimedia communications campaigns, with a focus on text production, is desirable
Languages
Fluency (native level) in Portuguese is required. Knowledge of English is strongly desirable.
