The UNDP Tax for SDGs Initiative is managed by the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS’s) Sustainable Finance Hub (SFH), with resource persons embedded in the SDG Finance Teams in Amman, Bangkok, Istanbul, Panama and Pretoria.
The UNDP Tax for SDGs Initiative has a particular emphasis on linking tax administration and tax and fiscal policies with the broader SDGs. Building on UNDP Country Office portfolios and already existing engagements with Ministries, UNDP brings a stronger focus on the role of tax and fiscal policy in achieving Agenda 2030. The initiative places a particular focus on reducing inequalities in tax and fiscal policy as well as taking forward climate action and environmental goals, and health outcomes. Representing the views of developing countries in the global normative tax discussions is critical and to this effect the UNDP Tax for SDGs Initiative will also work to bring evidence and perspectives from developing countries into the regional and international discussions on taxation.
Tax for SDGs Initiative is looking for a full-time Communications Analyst to plan, implement and coordinate the initiative’s communication efforts and ensure strategic and impactful outreach on the initiative’s work.
Institutional Arrangement
The Communications Analyst will report to the Head of Tax for SDGs (based in New York).
Collaboration and coordination with the rest of the UNDP Tax Team, Regional Bureaus and Country Offices as well as OECD Colleagues at TIWB Secretariat will be required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Scope of Work
The Communications Analyst will work as a part of the Tax for SDGs team to ensure strategic communication on the initiative.
Key Functions:
- Planning, implementing and coordinating the initiative’s communication and outreach to both internal and external audiences, including identifying communications opportunities across all workstreams;
- Coordinating and actively participating in the production and design of various communications products for the initiative, including brochures, reports, presentations, guides, newsletters, social media materials, videos etc.
- Ensuring a consistent quality and branding of all the initiative’s communications products;
- Ensuring that the initiative’s communications channels such as social media, event page, are frequently updated, improved and maintained;
- Managing the initiative’s media relations including writing and dissemination of news releases, media monitoring and maintaining contact to relevant media outlets;
- Coordinating and organizing events for the initiative including event promotion and outreach;
- Facilitating contact to the rest of the organization and partners on communications related matters.

Required Skills and Experience
Minimum Qualifications of the Successful IPSA
Min. Education requirements
An advanced university degree (Master) in journalism, communications, social science, international relations or development-related field.
Min. years of relevant work experience
A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience producing communications content and advocacy multi-media materials (i.e. print, media/social media, video, graphics, web page designing).
Required skills
• Demonstrated experience in developing communication strategies and content from conceptualization to publication.
• Experience providing support and guidance on the production and dissemination of communication products, including reports/publications, presentations, newsletters, graphics, social media assets, social media-friendly videos.
• Familiarity with creative desktop and mobile tools, such as the Adobe Creative Suite, and/or online tools such as Canva or Figma. In absence of such experience, demonstrated ability to oversee design and production processes is required.
Desired skills in addition to the competencies covered in the Competencies section
• Experience working in the field of development or communications for a social development purpose is desired.
• Experience with UNDP, UN system country office settings or with a multilateral organization of similar size and complexity is an asset.

• Experience in media relations is desired.
