The Support for Rule of Law Reforms in Ukraine – PRAVO Police is a programme funded by the European Union that has been designed to support the creation of an efficient law-enforcement system respectful of human rights in support of the people of Ukraine, through the provision of necessary support to the National Police and other Ukrainian authorities in charge of civilian law enforcement

2. Purpose and Scope of Assignment

Communications Analyst - Graphic Designer will, under the general guidance of and in close cooperation with the Programme Manager and/or Communication Officer, be responsible for the development of visual and graphic concepts, design, pre-press, and printing/production process oversight of elements of visual communications and publications.

Functional Responsibilities

The selected incumbents will undertake the following activities/responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all elements of visual communications and publications are in full compliance with the EU and UNOPS visibility requirements and professional graphic and technical standards;
  • Develop infographics, visual identities and logos;
  • Develop layouts, graphic design and pre-press for office stationery and documents;
  • Develop layouts, graphic design and pre-press for various promotional items;
  • Develop layouts, graphic design and pre-press for various banners and signboards;
  • Develop layouts, graphic design and pre-press for publications;
  • Develop layouts, graphic design and pre-press for indoor and outdoor visual communications;
  • Edit and or improve photos, charts and other graphic elements;
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining of archive of graphic works;
  • Create templates for, design and edit PowerPoint presentations;
  • Create animations and graphic illustrations which contribute to effectiveness of presentations;
  • Conduct printing/production process oversight;
  • Conduct other duties related to graphic design when needed.

The specific assignment must be performed on relevant legalized software.

  • All copyrights of produced photos are reserved to UNOPS. The photos cannot be altered, sold, or redistributed to third parties. Where appropriate the Photojournalist will be credited according to relevant UNOPS standards.

Monitoring and Project Controls

  • All graphic works should be developed in compliance with previously agreed timelines and approved by the Programme Manager and/or Communications Officer before the development of layout, graphic design and pre-press is considered completed

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Qualifications and Experience

a. Education (Level and area of required and/or preferred education)

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferably in graphic design, art, visual storytelling, or other related area is required.

b. Work Experience

  • Minimum 4 years post-bachelor’s degree or 6 years of post secondary education of relevant and proven professional experience at a similar position with responsibilities including print production and layout is required.
  • Experience in working with following graphics editors: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe in Design / Quark X Press, Corel Draw, Macromedia Flash, Google Workspace is required
  • Experience in offset and digital printing will be considered as an advantage
  • Previous experience with UNOPS or a UN Agency will be considered an advantage

c. Language Requirements

  • Fluency in Russian and Ukrainian is required
  • Working knowledge of English will be considered as an asset

d. Additional Requirements - Candidates who apply for this position shall submit, together with this application, a portfolio in free electronic format (preferably web links) with a minimum of 20 selected author’s design materials
