This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Programmes in Lebanon, and the direct supervision of the Head of the Programme Support Unit (PSU), the UNV will be responsible for increasing visibility and awareness of IOM’s programmes and partnerships, by maintaining the effective profiling of programmes and partners through IOM communications channels. In close coordination with IOM colleagues, s/he will produce and disseminate approved media content, and provide editorial guidance as needed.

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Programmes in Lebanon, and the direct supervision of the Head of the Programme Support Unit (PSU), the UN Volunteer will:

1- Develop a quarterly, external communications plan outlining priorities, target audiences, communication channels, and objectives. 2- Produce and curate effective content for IOM Lebanon’s social media and analyze social media engagement and tailor communications accordingly. 3- Write, design, and manage the production of creative and compelling communication material tailored for a variety of audiences – learning briefs, human interest stories, social media posts, field reports, donor snapshots, individual testimonials, short videos, fact sheets, newsletter, etc. Lead coordination with the Regional Office, as required. 4- Collaborate with project staff, including consultants and other external stakeholders to ensure IOM communications are available in relevant languages and meet project needs and contractual obligations. 5- Create designated space on the IOM Lebanon SharePoint page to support related communications, updates and resources (e.g., quarterly communications, menu of services/support from the IOM team, learning events, highlights from regions etc.). 6- Represent IOM in relevant IOM and UN working groups and ensure meaningful engagement. 7- Build and maintain strong media relationships with the press to raise IOM Lebanon’s profile and successfully pitch stories in high profile media and promote content in social media. Coordinate requests from media. 8- Co-develop and conduct communications trainings for program staff as needed and support in the provision of coaching to senior program teams on media engagement. 9- Undertake duty travels as and when required. 10- Undertake any other duties as may be assigned.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in Beirut National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions.
