WHO is committed to implement the 13th Global Programme of Work 2019-2023. A transformation plan has been developed for the organization, with a renewed operating model cantered on impact at country level. The plan put emphasis on communication, public relation and fund raising at the different levels of the organisation including CO. In this context, Tunisia Country office aims at strengthening resources in this area in order to communicate and promote the work of WHO country office in Tunisia, and support health communication strategies in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health, Other UN agencies and other health and developments partners as well as the local and international media.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of WHO Representative or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Communication Specialist will:

• Participate in preparing, organizing and reporting important WHO events including World Health Day, No Tobacco day, World AIDS day World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week (WAAW) as well as high profile meetings with government and development partners. • Adaptation and dissemination of communication and advocacy materials, press releases, audio-visual products and relevant information to all relevant recipients. • Participate and contribute to risk communication and community engagement (RCCE) activities • Regularly update the country office website, and social media (Facebook, Twitter) to reflect WHO activities in Tunisia • Organize press conferences, interviews and maintain regular contacts with the public relation department at the MOPH. Share information and respond to requests for information and assistance. Update and maintain the database of media contacts. • Contribute to the Fundraising strategy for Country Office, including mapping of, and liaison with potential donors
• Contribute with WHO technical programs in Tunisia and MOPH counterparts in implementing the health communication strategies focusing on WHO's Global, Regional and country priorities. • Support WHO officials' visits; draft talking points, arrange related press conferences and interviews on radio and TV program, as and when necessary. • Serve as WHO focal point within the network of United Nations communication team • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

• Promote WHO image in the country;
• Reinforce WHO visibility;

• Reinforce the External relations with all Health partners;
• Raise health awareness.

• Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment. • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed.

• Professional work experience at the national and/or international level in of specialized experience in the areas of health information, communication or journalism, Experience in UN or other international development organization will be an asset.;
• Good background in communication sciences, adequate knowledge of using media tools, good editorial and article writing skills.

Géographie et climat : La Tunisie est le plus petit pays de la côte nord-africaine, avec une population d'un peu plus de 10 millions d'habitant.e.s, dont environ 60% vivant en milieu urbain et a l'un des niveaux de vie les plus élevés du continent. Tunis est la capitale du pays et la plus grande ville (environ deux millions d'habitant.e.s dans et autour de la ville proprement dite). Le pays étant relativement petit, toutes les des-tinations à l'intérieur de la Tunisie peuvent être accessibles en une journée de voiture. La Tunisie a des frontières avec la Libye (sud-est) et l'Algérie (ouest). La Tunisie a un climat méditerranéen. Le long des côtes du nord de la Tunisie, les étés sont chauds et secs, et les hivers sont chauds et pluvieux. Dans le nord-ouest, il y a parfois des chutes de neige dans les mon-tagnes. Dans le sud de la Tunisie, il fait plus chaud et plus sec. Le sud de la Tunisie, où commence le Sahara, est semi-désertique. Dans certaines parties, il y a des oasis avec des palmiers géants et de petits jardins maraîchers. La religion : Environ 99 % de la population est de confession musulmane, en particulier de l'islam sunnite, qui est la religion principale et d'État. La Tunisie compte également une petite population chrétienne, composée de catholiques romain.e.s, de membres de l'Église orthodoxe grecque et de protestant.e.s fran-çais.e.s et anglais.e.s. Par ailleurs, une petite population de Juif.ve.s séfarades réside également dans le pays. Économie : Le pays ne dispose pas de vastes stocks d'hydrocarbures comme ses voisins, l'Algérie et la Libye, mais il a prospéré grâce à des politiques gouvernementales de longue date visant à développer l'industrie, le tourisme et l'agriculture. En même temps, les programmes sociaux limitent la croissance démographique, assurent un niveau d'éducation élevé et un niveau de vie relativement décent pour tous/toutes. Les produits agricoles et miniers, qui génèrent plus de 11 milliards de dollars par an, repré-sentent le pourcentage le plus important des exportations tunisiennes. Les principaux partenaires d'ex-portation de la Tunisie sont la France et l'Italie. La Tunisie est membre du Fonds arabe de développement économique et social (FADES), du Fonds monétaire arabe et de l'Union du Maghreb arabe (UMA). Transport en commun : En plus des services de taxis privés, l'Etat dispose d'un système de transport public fiable et économique. Sûreté et sécurité : Le taux de criminalité est faible, mais il y a déjà eu des cas de vol. Il est permis de marcher seul.e pendant la journée, mais il est préférable d'être plus prudent.e la nuit. La Tunisie traverse encore une période critique de transition démocratique et sociale. Le débat politique animé s'est parfois transformé en une confrontation localisée entre les opposant.e.s idéologiques. Bien que ces tensions ne soient pas liées aux étranger.e.s, il est néanmoins important de se tenir au courant de la situation politique. Par conséquent, les conseils en matière de sécurité sont systématiquement envoyés par le personnel de sécurité du DSS et du HCR.
