Manage communication tasks and develop content for UNIC Beirut

You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in media, communication, journalism, public relations or any other relevant field is required.
  • Three years of experience in communication, especially in drafting, organization of events and social media is required.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English is required.
  • Fluency in French is desirable.
  • Experience in international setting is desirable.

Result of Service Delivery of all requests and submission of all drafts by set deadlines. Timely organization of activities and events. Positive feedback from team and supervisor.

Expected duration 3 months

Duties and Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the Director of the UN Information Centre in Beirut, the communication specialist is required to perform the below functions in close coordination with the Public Information Officer:

-Draft human-interest stories in English and Arabic on UNIC Beirut activities and UN priorities and campaigns. This entails coordinating with the Public Information Officer at UNIC Beirut for activities and campaigns; researching various information sources for relevant material and crosschecking pertinent documentation and other information with UN offices locally, regionally and globally; gathering quotes from speakers/UN officials; -Prepare creative content in English and Arabic that is adapted for each social media platform and tailored to Lebanon and other countries covered by UNIC Beirut; -Research and identify appropriate visuals to be included with social media posts, editing them to the correct format when necessary; -Maintain a schedule of upcoming international days and global campaigns that should be promoted. -Post and schedule content using social media tools (e.g. TweetDeck); -Compile social media analytics and trends that will feed into a social media results report to be prepared jointly with the Public Information Assistant; -Draft relevant stories and other UN information to be used for updating UNIC website; -Prepare visuals, including infographics on UN priorities; -Capture short video messages from experts that highlight key UN messages; -Draft press releases pertaining to UNIC Beirut activities/campaigns; -Support the dissemination of material to the media and other relevant stakeholders; -Provide assistance to organization and coverage of events and meetings; -Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or Public Information Officer.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in media, communication, journalism, public relations or any other relevant field is required. Experience: Three years of experience in communication, especially in drafting, organization of events and social media is required. Experience in international setting is desirable. Language: Fluency in Arabic and English is required. Fluency in French is desirable.
