**OVERVIEW** ------------ Parent Sector : Culture Sector (CLT) Duty Station: Havana Classification of duty station: \[\[filter12\]\] Standard Duration of Assignement : \[\[filter13\]\] Job Family: Communication and Information Type of contract : Non Staff Duration of contract : From 7 to 11 months Recruitment open to : External candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 31-Jan-2023 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- Under the overall authority of the Director of the UNESCO Regional Office for Culture in Latin America and the Caribbean and the direct supervision of the Coordinator of the Transcultura programme, and in close coordination with the Communication Officer of the Culture Sector and the UNESCO Department of Public Information, the Communication Officer shall: Under the overall authority of the Director of the UNESCO Regional Office for Culture in Latin America and the Caribbean and the direct supervision of the Coordinator of the Transcultura programme, and in close coordination with the Communication Officer of the Culture Sector and the UNESCO Department of Public Information, the Communication Officer shall: a) Implement the Transcultura Programme Communication and Visibility Plan, and propose modifications as appropriate; b) Develop communication messaging and materials for different audiences (governments, donors, partners and the press), concerning either the programme as a whole or individual activities; c) Ensure the regular update of the Transcultura website through webnews and other relevant materials; Implement media outreach initiatives; d) Monitor information sources (news, articles, academic papers, infographics, maps, videos, etc); e) Oversee the production of audio-visual materials (videos, etc.); f) Oversee the work of a photographer, videographer and graphic designer for the Transcultura programme; g) Organize visibility events; h) Undertake three missions as follows (a lump sum will be provided by UNESCO to cover any mission-related costs): • a mission to Nice, France (7 days/6 nights, from 8 to 14 February 2023), with the purpose to coordinate the communication of Transcultura participation in the 150th edition of the Carnival of Nice, followed by a mission to Berlin, Germany (5 days, 4 nights, from 14 to 18 February 2023), with the purpose to coordinate the communication of Transcultura participation in the Berlinale Film Festival; • a mission to Paris, France (7 days/6 nights, from 6 to 12 June 2023), with the purpose to coordinate communication of Transcultura participation in the event “Marché de la poésie”. Long Description ---------------- Long Description ---------------- Long Description ---------------- **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Accountability (C) Communication (C) Teamwork (C) Innovation (C) Results focus (C) Planning and organizing (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- **Education** Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Media Relations, Public or International Relations, Publishing Development, Political Science, or other related subject. **Work Experience** • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the field of culture and communication related activities • A minimum of 2 years of experience with a multilateral or international organization. • Proven experience in the production of communication tools in the field of culture and development. **Skills** • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proven ability to draft clearly and concisely. • Advanced IT skills, excellent command of Microsoft Office™ tools as well as InDesign, Final Cut. • Ability to manage websites and social media channels. • Knowledge of Content Management System (CMS)/Drupal. • Strong interpersonal skills. • Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment. • Ability to manage a heavy workload and to meet tight deadlines, paying close attention to detail and quality of work. **Languages** Fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken). **DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- **Education** • Master’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Media Relations, Public or International Relations, Publishing Development, Political Science, or other related subject. • Relevant professional training in a culture-related area. **Work Experience** • Experience related to cultural and creative industries. • Experience in mobilizing a wide range of artists and cultural professionals through advocacy. **Skills** • Good knowledge of UNESCO’s culture programme. **Languages** Knowledge of French (written and spoken). **SELECTION AND RECRUITMENT PROCESS** ------------------------------------- Please note that all candidates must complete an on-line application and provide complete and accurate information.
