How can you make a difference?

The Communication Officer will assist in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating an advocacy and communication strategy to get children's and women's issues into the public domain, strengthen political will in support of UNICEF's mission and objectives in the country, and enhance the organization's credibility and brand. Support the development and implementation of UNICEF Cambodia's social media strategy and annual plans to accelerate growth across our channels.

  • Social media strategies and communication materials: Effective social media strategies, plans, and tactics are developed to contribute to UNICEF Cambodia's overall communication and advocacy strategy and set KPIs. Communication assets for social media are produced promptly, supporting the country's communication strategy, regional and global campaigns, and priorities, as well as donor visibility and resource mobilization.
  • Social Media relationships: Effective and timely relationships with key social media focal points - UNICEF global and regional, social media service providers, creative LTAs, other development partners - to keep the social media channels running smoothly and safely, ensure UNICEF' access to the latest technology, and communicate the story of UNICEF's cooperation to a broader audience.
  • Monitoring and evaluation: Regular monitoring and evaluation activities are undertaken to ensure maximum impact and continuous improvement of the country's social media strategies and communication efforts overall. Results and reports are prepared and shared on a timely basis.
  • Celebrities, partners, and special events: The Country Office's contact list of influencers, celebrities, and key opinion leaders is maintained and further developed; they are effectively engaged to support the country programme goals.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education: University degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.

Work Experience:

  • Two years of proven experience working across social platforms and with a comprehensive understanding of social media paid promotion and analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, etc.
  • Experience managing and growing a digital community, ideally within a complex organisation.
  • Prover experience leading influencer engagement activities.
  • Background/familiarity with Emergency situations.

Language Proficiency: Fluency in Khmer and English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
