The UNICEF Division of Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) is dedicated to achieving key objectives encompassing income generation, influence, and brand recognition. The division remains committed to executing the UNICEF Strategic Plan and the Global Communication and Advocacy Strategy. Concurrently, UNICEF is developing a new Global Communication and Advocacy Strategy to align with the updated UNICEF Strategic Plan, 2022–2025.

In line with its mission to present a consistent and coherent organizational image, UNICEF has created a Global Brand Strategy. This strategy will serve as a foundational framework for communication efforts, ensuring that expressions of the organization’s identity, principles, and values are harmonized across all communication channels.

Within PFP, the Strategic Communications, Media, and PR Services for the Fundraising team in the Marketing and PR Services section seeks the expertise of a Communication Officer (Digital Media). The Communication Officer (Digital Media) will play a vital role in social media content development, social media management, and Thought leadership digital activation, supporting private sector engagement, visibility, and high-value marketing objectives. By working with the Communication Specialist (digital media), the officer will ensure PFP digital media activation during key moments for private sector engagement, such as WEF, UNGA, and COP.

For every child, a Champion

The Communication Officer (Digital Media) will work closely under the guidance of the Communication Specialist (Digital Media) and with team leads in the Communication for Partnerships team, Content Team, and relevant National Committees counterparts. This will include social media pack development, development of communication assets and materials, management of social media channels, and monitoring and reporting of PFP channels (LinkedIn and X).

The Communication Officer (Digital Media) will be responsible for Thought Leadership digital activation, promoting content, and co-managing social media channels.

Furthermore, the Communication Officer (Digital Media) will support PR and media relations during emergencies and crises when needed.

How can you make a difference?

The Communication Officer (Digital Media) will be pivotal in maintaining UNICEF’s PFP leaders' social media channels, supporting Global Visibility requests from private sector engagement, and thought leadership digital activation. The expected responsibilities of this role include.

  1. Develop Comprehensive Social Media Plans and Social Media Content for Thought Leadership
  • Provide the team with copy and visual elements to effectively position UNICEF PFP Thought Leaders' social media accounts during significant events such as UNGA, COP, and WEF and to engage with private sector partners.
  1. Finalize Tailored Social Media Packages for UNICEF PFP Markets

- Prepare finalized social media packages encompassing copy, content, and hashtag strategies tailored for diverse UNICEF PFP markets.

  1. Design Visually Appealing Graphics for social media.

- Produce visually captivating designs that enhance the impact of social media messages and campaigns.

  1. Collaborate on Video Production with Content Team

- Coordinate with the content team to conceptualize and develop engaging videos to complement social media content.

  1. Analyze and Report Social Media Performance

- Conduct regular analysis of social media channel performance and provide detailed monthly analytics reports to the PR and Media team for informed decision-making.

  1. Facilitate Training and Webinars on social media and Digital Fundraising

- Assist in the creation of training materials and guidelines for social media and digital fundraising. - Conduct webinars aimed at enhancing the UNICEF PFP team's LinkedIn presence and social media capabilities.

  1. Coordinate Digital Communication and Partnership Engagement

- Collaborate with colleagues on digital communication initiatives and partnership engagement activities. - Monitor and analyze partnership activities and provide insights for strategic collaboration opportunities.

  1. Support Marketing and PR Requests for Fundraising Team and Country Offices

- Assist with relevant requests from the Marketing and PR services for the fundraising team, UNICEF National Committees, and PSFR Country Offices.

  1. Provide Coordination Support for Crisis/Humanitarian Communication Work

- Offer coordination support to the Media and PR team during humanitarian emergencies. - Assist in managing media requests and crisis communication activities as required.

DELIVERABLES:

The Communication Officer is instrumental in orchestrating digital communication strategies and engagement initiatives. The candidate will craft compelling social media strategies tailored for global thought leadership events, while also curating market-specific content packages. Their visually captivating graphics enhance the impact of social media campaigns, complemented by detailed performance analysis reports guiding organizational decisions. Additionally, the Officer facilitates capacity building through training materials and webinars on social media. Collaborating on digital initiatives and supporting marketing and PR requests ensures cohesive communication strategies. During crises, they provide crucial coordination for effective communication responses on digital media. The Communication Officer significantly elevates UNICEF's visibility, partnerships, fundraising efforts, and crisis communication capabilities.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

Education:

  • A first-level University Degree in a relevant field: Communication, Arts, Philosophy, Journalism, Design and Architecture or similar is required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in social media management and design for digital products within an International Organization is required.
  • Two years of Graphic Design experience is required.
  • Production of digital content for thought leadership in International Organizations is required.
  • Social media strategy development, with a focus on LinkedIn and X experience is an asset.
  • Proven experience in social media planning, campaign coordination, execution, monitoring, and reporting is an asset.
  • Social Media Marketing is an asset.
  • Exposure to private sector fundraising is an asset.
  • Experience supporting humanitarian programming an asset.
  • UN/UNICEF experience is an asset.

Language requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language especially Arabic, French and Spanish is an asset.
