The current UNICEF-Government of Zimbabwe Country Programme of Cooperation (2016-2021) aims to support Zimbabwe to sustain and build upon the gains achieved for children during the 2012-2015 Country Programme of Cooperation. The programme focuses on improving the quality of social services, increasing access to services, and helping to build national and sub-national capacities to provide low-cost, high-impact interventions for all children, especially the most vulnerable.

How can you make a difference?
A challenging and exciting opportunity has arisen within UNICEF Zimbabwe under the Office of the Deputy Representative, Programmes, for passionate and committed Communication for Development Officer (Social analytics and SBCC).
The Communication for Development (C4D) Officer reports to the C4D Manger for supervision and guidance. The Officer provides technical and operational support to the C4D Manager and internal colleagues by administering, implementing, monitoring and/or evaluating a variety of C4D initiatives and activities to promote community engagement and participation, social/behavioral analytics, and measurable behavioral and social change/mobilization, requiring the application of technical and theoretical skills and thorough knowledge of organizational goals, rules, regulations, policies and procedures to complete tasks.
Summary of key functions/accountabilities:
- Support to strategy design and development of C4D activities
- Support to implementation of C4D activities
- Ensure interlinkages and integration of specific outputs, including synergies with other substantive programmatic areas of UNICEF focus, aligned to a one-programme approach drive
- Advocacy, networking and partnership building
- Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- A university degree in one of the following fields is required: social and behavioral science, sociology, anthropology, psychology, education, communication, public relations or another relevant technical field.
- A minimum of two years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required: social development programme planning, communication for development, public advocacy or another related area.
- Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
- Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.
