Duty Station (City, Country): this will be a remote working role, the team is based in Rome, Italy

Duration: 6 months

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

Assisting more than 90 million people in 83 countries each year, the World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience.

We are currently seeking to fill a consultancy under the Talent Acquisition & Deployment Branch of the Human Resources Division. This position will report to our Headquarters in Rome, Italy.

The Talent Acquisition & Deployment Branch is a key partner in the achievement of WFP’s strategic operational objectives through the effective recruitment and deployment of staff members. Communications, engagement and design are essential aspects of our team that ensures our initiatives are effectively communicated to our highly diverse colleagues around the world and to achieve a high level of engagement. User Experience/User Interface would be an excellent skill to have as digital, virtual communications and interaction with our branch is critical, given the new remote working environment and the geographically dispersed workforce.

The selected candidate will be contributing to the Talent Deployment Team, focusing on stakeholder engagement through communication and design with the following key duties:

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop communications and engagement strategies for the branch, including key messaging, stakeholder analyses, implementation timelines, and engagement products.
  2. In close collaboration with the team, design front-end guidelines and toolkits for staff and other stakeholders involved in the recruitment and deployment process, improving understanding, engagement and user experience through clear communication and branding.
  3. Develop and update new and existing communications – emails, FAQ docs, WFPGo pages, presentations, multimedia video tutorials (including visual storytelling) and other communications products required.
  4. In close collaboration with a team of developers, contribute to the UI/UX design and development of new tools, user interfaces and the visual improvement of the existing in-house technology platform.
  5. Propose innovative and creative solutions to enhance communication initiatives managed by the team.
  6. Remain abreast of WFP’s corporate communications and branding guidelines, while incorporating the latest design concepts.
  7. Contribute to additional initiatives and/or campaigns managed by the Branch.
  8. Contribute to automation efforts of HR processes. This includes proposing new interface solutions, mock-ups and workflows to improve user experience of web applications in the branch as well as supporting initiatives such as HCM as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education:

University degree in Communication, Social Sciences or technology related studies such Graphic Design or Visual Communications;

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in developing and producing high-quality written materials, including engagement strategies, graphically based presentations as well as text documents.
  • Experience in designing communication materials and providing support on technology related projects
  • Experience in UX and UI digital products.

    Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills;

  • Highly developed contemporary design skills, demonstrated in your portfolio of recent work;
  • Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Cloud products: XD, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office;
  • Strong conceptual thinking to develop new communication strategies and coordinate projects.
  • Collaborative spirit able to liaise with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures and to act with credibility and diplomacy.
  • Strong time management skills with an ability to plan ahead, anticipate requirements, problems and obstacles, and an ability to juggle competing priorities successfully and to work to tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with a high degree of autonomy, while willing to receive constructive feedback
  • Fully committed and motivated to achieve the aims of the UN World Food Programme.

Language:

English Level C and preferable knowledge of another UN language
