Communications Coordinator

The Role:

The communications coordinator will work closely with the Senior Communications Manager in ensuring that World Vision’s brand and visibility is strengthened both internally to the Partnership and World Vision Somalia staff and leadership; and externally to key priority audiences such as donors, government, partners, communities, and other stakeholders as a leading child-focused relief, development and advocacy organization. The position will also support other World Vision affiliates such as Somalia Resilience Program (SomRep) to ensure they are well-positioned to their key donors. Furthermore, the role will ensure that World Vision is well positioned on social and digital platforms and to the Partnership through high-quality child-focus and visually compelling content.

The role will therefore ensure that the right communications and marketing resources are sought, developed and distributed to the relevant audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content production for internal and external engagement.
  • Internal communications.
  • Brand management and reputation.

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Media, Film/TV production, creative media production or related fields
  • Diploma in Graphic Arts or Multimedia production/web design from a recognized institution (desirable)
  • 5 years or more of professional experience in media and communications in a multi-cultural, child-focused, non-profit/humanitarian organization/context.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, video editing applications such as Final Cut Pro and Adobe Suite applications (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premier Pro, Adobe InDesign and Illustrator).
  • Experience creating multimedia content for digital, social media platforms.
  • Website and social media management experience.
  • Experience in media, humanitarian and advocacy communications.
  • Ability to use audio, photography and video equipment to produce compelling storytelling
  • Ability to do selfie videos or doing reporter/vlog style videos is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the different social media platforms i.e., Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube- and their video formats
  • Must be fluent in both English and Somali (written and verbal) language
  • Must have the ability to shoot and edit video content.
  • A passionate storyteller with strong writing and photography skills.
  • Experience in script writing and production.
  • Proven document design skills, including the design of infographics.
  • Digital photography, video documentary production/mastery of video production process.
  • Demonstrates creativity and innovation including in the use of latest digital communications equipment.
  • Networking and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet very tight deadlines .

Working Environment:

The position is field-based with frequent travel to other target project locations. Female candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
