In line with the priorities outlined in UNICEF Kosovo Programme 2021-2025, the consultancy assumes primary responsibility for supporting communication and partnerships to promote UNICEF Kosovo Programme work with children and adolescents, increasing the engagement of people in social media, implement donor planned activities to achieve greater results for children and young people in Kosovo, through supporting communication and partnerships initiatives.

How can you make a difference?

Under the direct supervision of the Partnership and Communication Officer, the consultant will support UNICEF Kosovo Office.

  • Administrate the creation and publishing of relevant, original, high-quality content for the UNICEF meeting donor requirements, including but not limited to blog posts, photographic and video documentation, social media, and traditional media.
  • Assist in other UNICEF programmatic activities, such as overseeing public advocacy events, and other activities as necessary under the work plan.
  • Conduct field trips with partners and produce visibility materials that showcase impact of the UNICEF Kosovo programme activities
  • Contribute to quarterly and annual reports, including donor visibility reports

Tasks/Milestone: Updating social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) regularly posting UNICEF Kosovo Programme activities. Deliverables/Outputs: 50 posts in Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram channels highlighting general UNICEF activities developed. Timeline: April 2023- December 2024 40 working days

Tasks/Milestone: Conduct field trips with partners and produce visibility materials that showcase impact of the UNICE Kosovo programme activities Deliverables/Outputs: 30 field trips conducted to ensure production of the visibility materials that showcase impact and results achieved Timeline: April 2023- December 2024 30 working days

Tasks/Milestone: Support Communication and Partnership to implement activities foreseen under the communication plan of the donor Deliverables/Outputs: 5 visibility products produced 50 posts in social media with a focus on UNICEF donor support 3 activities foreseen in communication plan supported. Timeline: April 2023- December 2024 35 working days

Tasks/Milestone: Support Communication and Partnership Sector to communicate high-quality messages on UNICEF Kosovo Programme social media channels about the collaboration and project results of the donor Deliverables/Outputs: 30 posts for social media channels highlighting impact of interventions with the support of the donor Timeline: April 2023- December 2024 25 working days

Tasks/Milestone: Support Communication and Partnership sector to develop visibility materials for the donors and private sector Deliverables/Outputs: 5 visibility annexes developed 3 thank you notes developed Timeline: April 2023- December 2024 20 working days

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Formal education in communication, mass communication or social studies preferable.
  • Good knowledge and experience in developing visual items, and other relevant skills.
  • Excellent command in English.
  • Available in short notice for the consultancy opportunity.
  • Excellent multi-tasker who can work both independently and with a team or supervisor.
  • Social Media savvy in Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
