This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

UNICEF was founded in 1946 as an emergency fund to support the most vulnerable children. Today, it works on the ground in 190 countries and territories to promote children's survival, protection and development. The world's largest provider of vaccines for developing countries, UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS. UNICEF is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations and governments. UNICEF is working to scale up essential services for adolescent and young people – to deliver on their rights to livelihood, health, education, protection, and other essential services, but also to help make their voices heard, reduce their involvement in risky behaviors and conflict and ensure they do not lose hope. As an active UNICEF team member, the UNV will be providing efficient support in developing, adapting, and packaging social media content. Responsibilities include creating a social media posting planner, assisting in developing and scheduling social media packages, archiving social media calendars and assets, and supporting the production of engaging digital content. Additionally, producing creative briefs, exploring innovative content creation tools, and providing regular updates on digital trends. Generating reports on social media key performance indicators, assisting in field visits for content collection, and coordinate with content implementers for quality and timely delivery. In addition to duty station specific vaccine requirements, appointments are subject to confirmation of fully vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the appointment. It does not apply to UN Volunteers who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their contracts.

Under the supervision of Digital Communication Officer, the UNV Communication Associate (social media) will:

• Create a social media posting planner to be shared on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. The planner to include enough and diverse content. • Scheduling/publishing social media content across all UNICEF social media channels. • Assist in forming social media packages and drafts. • Support the Digital Communication Officer in coordinating and producing engaging social media content with programme focal points, partners, graphic designers, and agencies.
• Support with the production of digital assets for the digital platforms (social media visuals, info graphs, fact graphs, illustrations, GIFs, reels) to ensure brand visibility and consistency. • Support the Digital Communication Officer with drafting creative briefs for content creation. • Generate weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on the social media key performance indicators and sentiment analysis. • Organize and plan field visits for content collection, writing stories, taking photos and short videos. • Live coverage of press conferences, visits, and events. • Assist in developing text content (Captions) for photos and posts in English and Arabic.
• Assist in coordinating with content implementers (graphic designers, videos editors, photographers…etc.) for quality, timely delivery of content and alignment with UNICEF digital guidelines. • Clear content with the Digital Communication Officer, and programme sections as needed. • Monitor partners, other UN platforms and relevant accounts for UNICEF mentions, articles, stories, resources, and relevant sharable content. • Assist with logistics and coordination of social media activities and live coverage of events. • Update the team on new trends to apply to strengthen UNICEF digital presence. • Assist in mapping/identifying major and relevant digital social media accounts, and compiling names of potential/key influencers to support in further promoting UNICEF communication and advocacy campaigns and activities. • Assist with influencers screening to ensure influencers are fit for UNICEF’s brand values, goals for a campaign, and voice to avoid reputational damage/risk. Conduct a scan of their role and content they share. (Ensure there is no racist, sexist, or political content...) • Support with contacting influencers by phone or email to participate in UNICEF campaigns, event and digital activations. • Assist with designing a social media package tailored for influencers. • Archive all social media assets, calendars, packages, documents related influencers and update influencers database. • Community Management/ Moderation, website and digital advertising support upon need. • Assist in any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Desirable: • Experience with event management is an asset. • Knowledge in one or more graphic design tools Adobe Creative suite; Illustrator, photoshop, AI tools and Canva, video editing tools and applications, analytic tools, is an asset. • Professional experience of content management systems and websites content management is desirable.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in Beirut, Lebanon. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions.

National UN Volunteers (Specialist category) in Lebanon are entitled to: • Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) equivalent to USD1,606.58 • Annual and learning leaves • Medical and life Insurance • Free access to different learning platforms.

Conditions of Service for national UN Volunteers

The contract lasts for the period indicated above with possibility of extensions subject to availability of funding, operational necessity, and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectation of renewal of the assignment. The applicable Volunteer Living Allowance is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents - except for UN Community Volunteers), as well as final repatriation (if applicable).
