This position resides within the Digital Strategy Section (DSS), as part of the Division of Global Communication and Advocacy. The Digital Strategy Section manages all global digital channels and digital communications for UNICEF, including UNICEF.org in 5 UN languages, global social media channels, and digital multimedia content creation. The Section is also responsible for the building, management and maintenance of global web platform and website properties, including websites for Country and Regional Offices, digital governance and capacity building.

Purpose of the job:

Reporting to the P3 Digital Communication Specialist (Field Support and Web Builds Lead), the incumbent will provide the highest quality technical support to UNICEF's global base of internal users of UNICEF's Drupal-based web platform and Content Management System (CMS). They will also be required to participate in platform testing, content quality assurance activities, and occasionally assist with high-quality web content production.

Role Responsibility

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

  1. Provide technical support to users of content management system via helpdesk
  2. Support management of internal knowledge, learning and training resources and workflows
  3. Support content production and platform testing

DESCRIPTION OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

1. Provide technical support to users of content management system via helpdesk

  • Provide level 1 technical support to internal users of the Drupal content management system via the Drupal Support Helpdesk, responding quickly and with a high level of accuracy and adherence to UNICEF's web standards and other industry best practices;
  • Track, respond to and escalate support issues as required in line with established support workflow;
  • Guide users on best practices in web content production; assist users in selecting best method/s of utilising platform functionality to achieve their objectives;

2. Support management of internal knowledge, learning and training resources and workflows

  • Make updates to learning resources, and internal team's knowledge base/wiki, as required; maintain a suite of standard responses to optimise delivery of technical support;
  • Support workflows for user training program, including requesting user access, distributing training resources, responding to questions and ensuring completion of training milestones;
  • Maintain extremely detailed technical knowledge of using UNICEF's web platforms; remain up to date with and support and promote adoption of newly introduced features and functionalities, including standards of use;

3. Support content production and platform testing

  • Make high-quality production updates to unicef.org content as required, including formatting text, placing video, optimizing images and other media; support the Web Editorial team and Design team to build web pages to a high standard in line with UNICEF's style guide and maintaining brand standards;
  • Perform testing on new platform features as required; troubleshoot and properly route platform issues for resolution by the Product team;
  • Perform quality assurance checks on websites and highly visible campaign pages around campaign and site launches, and alongside the introduction of new platform features.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

  • Completion of secondary education is required.
  • A minimum of 6 years of web content management experience (in a supporting role); experience with Drupal CMS highly regarded;
  • Strong knowledge of web content production best practices, including knowledge of accessibility standards;
  • Prior experience providing technical support via a helpdesk is highly regarded;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, particularly in regard to clearly communicating highly technical information for a non-technical audience;
  • Time management and problem-solving skills are required.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required’ knowledge of another official UN language (i.e Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is high regarded;
