Provide procedural, administrative, and operational support in communication strategy implementation

You have:

  • Completion of secondary education. University level courses in communication, journalism or any other related field of discipline relevant to the job is an asset.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative work experience is required including a minimum of two (2) year experience in external relations, communication, digital engagement, media or public relations activities.
  • Digital literacy and the ability to effectively use standard office software tools and social media.
  • Strong photographic skills is desirable.
  • Basic video editing skills are an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, articulate correspondence and communicate well (written and oral).
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural team.
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign or online design services like Canva.
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics and social media monitoring tools a plus.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Polish is required. Ukrainian and Russian are an asset.

Contract

This is a G-6 contract. This kind of contract is known as General Service and related categories. It is normally only for nationals. It usually requires 6 years of experience, depending on education. More about G-6 contracts.

How can you make a difference?

Under the close supervision and guidance of the supervisor, the Communication Associate supports the Communication section through providing a range of procedural, administrative, operational support in developing, implementing, executing and monitoring of the Communication strategy implementation, ensuring timely and effective execution that is consistent with UNICEF rules and regulations.

Key Accountabilities and Duties & Tasks

1. Support to development, planning and execution of communication activities.

  • Researches, analyzes, verifies, synthesizes and compiles qualitative and quantitative data and information from a variety of sources on subject matters relevant to the work of the section to facilitate preparation of reports, working papers, and presentations;
  • Support to research, design, pre-testing and production of high quality culturally relevant communication materials;
  • Drafts project documents, work plans, budgets, proposals on implementation arrangements.
  • Monitors and tracks the efficient distribution of supplies that are required for effective execution of communication activities.

2. Support to budgeting, monitoring and reporting of Communication results

  • Prepares monitoring and reporting information for supervisor on agreed performance indicators to drive more efficient management and accountability for results.
  • Monitors budgets and financial expenditures of section, ensuring compliance with UNICEF rules and regulations, keeping supervisor informed and advised on actions for decision/follow up.
  • Carries out transactions in VISION ensuring programme results, activities and programme coding are as per annual work plans (AWPs) and makes amendments and alterations as per section revisions when necessary.
  • Researches, analyzes, verifies and synthesizes information on best practices and lessons learnt to support knowledge development and capacity building

3. Support in donor recognition and reporting

  • Researches, analyzes, verifies, and synthesizes data and information in support of preparing reports pertaining to donors (both current and potential).
  • Researches, analyzes, verifies, and synthesizes data and information to assist in the preparation of periodic or ad-hoc financial reports relating to country office and donors to support the office in optimizing use of funds.

4. Support in working with media, suppliers and partners

  • Gathers content of relevant country efforts to develop communication materials for dissemination through social and traditional media channels;
  • Supports the production of information materials (human interest stories, multimedia products, press releases) that meet quality standards;
  • Maintains the Office calendar of Advocacy events, and supports implementation of advocacy activities and events
  • Supports translation of materials in local languages
  • Works with partners to consolidate and facilitate section's work with respect to communication priorities
  • Interacts with partners to ensure that key information and products is disseminated as per the section's expectations
  • Organizes data and information, prepares and maintain records, files and work plans for the monitoring of Communication Strategy implementation.
