UNICEF Albania Office works in the ground to support government's reforms and civil society interventions to offer support, development and protection of children's rights. UNICEF Albania's new Country Program for 2022-2026 will rely on communication and public advocacy as an important strategy to ensure increased visibility for children’s rights including child-related data and knowledge on issues affecting children. There is a growing potential of digital communication in Albania and a need for more effective online communication. A more systematic and structured use of digital media platforms will help position UNICEF in Albania as a knowledge leader, expands outreach, and broadens engagement around children's rights. The Communication Associate will help on expanding UNICEF's reach to the online audience and will help with engaging a younger audience creating further opportunities to adolescent and youth engagement.

How can you make a difference?

The incumbent will support on developing and delivering targeted content and integrated digital communication to complement the overall UNICEF communication and advocacy strategy.

Under the guidance of the Communication Officer NO2, the digital Communication Associate will assist in planning, designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating digital communication initiatives to support the advocacy and communication strategy of the Country Office including in management of social and digital media platforms.

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  1. Communication strategy: Provide effective support to the Communication officer for preparing various communication products and materials that support country communication strategy and resource mobilization as per the office communication and advocacy action plan.
  2. Web Management: Provide effective and timely assistance for the management of the office web platform through planning and gathering content for the website to support effective communication strategy and regional and global campaigns and priorities.
  3. Social Media: Provide effective and timely support for developing and managing social media accounts and maintaining contact and relationships with social media influencers to position children’s issues at the center of the social media and communicate the story of UNICEF's contribution in the country to a wider audience.
  4. Monitoring and evaluation: Provide effective support for timely monitoring and evaluation activities of social media platforms to ensure maximum impact and continuous improvement of country digital communication efforts. Results and reports are prepared and shared on a timely basis.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have:

  • Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, marketing or any other related field.
  • Six years of practical professional work experience in communication, managing web platforms and social media.
  • Experience in content generation for social media and websites is critical.
  • Background familiarity with content management system for website. Knowledge of Drupal is crucial.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, articulate correspondence and communicate well.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural set.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is an asset.
  • Experience in working with the UN, UNICEF or with international NGOs is an asset.
  • Interpersonal skills, team spirit and positive working relationships
  • Fluency in English and Albanian is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
