How can you make a difference?

In line with the Global Communication and Advocacy Strategy – specifically around digital engagement- and UNICEF Thailand’s public advocacy, programme, communication, and fundraising priorities, this post will contribute to the communication section’s digital editorial planning, digital content creation, social and digital media platform management, audience reach and engagement, by supporting the Communication Specialist (Digital) and working closely with programme, fundraising and communication team members.

Social and digital media plays an important role in UNICEF’s audience reach, engagement and influencing in Thailand, a country with notably high digital penetration. With this context in mind, the strategic use of social media and digital platforms helps position the organization as a knowledge leader, builds the brand, expands outreach and broadens engagement around children’s rights, both with young people and adults, in an audience-centric and insight driven manner.

As UNICEF Thailand increasingly strengthens its digital strategy and audience engagement, aligning both digital communications and digital fundraising initiatives and whole-of-office digital goals, this role will play a critical role in supporting the implementation of the country office’s digital strategy across all its owned platforms and managing the community of UNICEF’s digital followers.

Major Responsibilities

1) Supports the Communication Specialist (Digital) in the implementation of the digital and social media strategy for UNICEF Thailand. Particularly, the incumbent will:

➢ Support in developing contents for UNICEF Thailand’s digital communication channels (e.g., website, blog, social media, etc.) in both Thai and English

➢ Prepare and publicize contents in a timely manner on social media, and support regular update of UNICEF Thailand’s websites and blogs

➢ Regularly monitor UNICEF Thailand’s social media profiles and work with communication, fundraising and programme staff to respond to inquiries and comments

➢ Regularly monitor social media for keywords related to UNICEF. Notify supervisor should they notice any red flags. Work with communication, fundraising, and programme staff to respond in an appropriate manner under the direction of the supervisor

➢ Support in identifying online influencers to support UNICEF Thailand work and support efforts to reach out to the identified online influencers

➢ Compile social media, website and blog analytic data and report to the supervisor.

➢ Support the development and implementation of social media plans/activities for specific projects

➢ Participate in sharing new ideas to incorporate into UNICEF’s Thailand social media work by monitoring trends in social media landscape in the Thailand context

➢ Support in gathering content to promote the work of UNICEF through social media platforms

➢ Support in coordinating with UNICEF consultants (e.g., writers, graphic designer) to produce materials or contents for digital communication when necessary

➢ Liaise with UNICEF’s partners to collect necessary contents for social media such as photos of UNICEF-assisted interventions

➢ Review/edit content prepared for social media and the website

➢ Support social media coverage of events and campaigns organized by or attended by UNICEF staff.

➢ Support the implementation of digital/social media initiatives such as Facebook Live events, etc.

2) Supports the Communication Specialist (Digital) in administrative work relevant to digital and social media projects

➢ Administrative support in procurement processes of contracts and services related to UNICEF Thailand’s digital and social media work (e.g. support in the development of ToRs, work orders, etc.)

➢ Liaise with individual and institutional contractors as necessary to facilitate the planning and execution of digital and social media projects such as Facebook Lives, social media campaigns, etc.

➢ Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications of Successful Candidate

➢ Completion of Secondary education. University degree in social science, marketing, communications - preferably

➢ Training in content creation of digital media would be an asset.

➢ Training in social media management platform use would be an asset

➢ A minimum of six years of experience in supporting communications, content creation, editorial planning and social media management including planning and implementation

➢ Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.

➢ Fluency in English and Thai is required.
