This is a UNV Community Volunteer contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV Community Volunteer contracts.

• As an active UNDP team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered to UNDP and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including: o Written or produced high quality communications materials such as human-interest stories, videos and engaging social media posts. o Preparation of stabilization-related content for UNDP website and social media materials. o Ensure communications and visibility support for events and high-level visits. o Preparation of monthly stabilization newsletter. o Track analytics and develop quarterly reports.

• Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Programme Manager and Stabilisation Management and Transition Support Team Leader or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the National UN Community Volunteer (Communication Associate) will: • Write clear and concise human-interest stories, news articles, presentations, and video scripts in English while following UNDP’s style guide. • Support to donor reporting including editing, graphic design, and ensuring adherence to UNDP branding and publication guidelines. • Support with developing a newsletter and updating contact data base of external partners. • Develop content packages and stories to communicate the impact of the programmes under the Stabilization pillar. • Support with content planning and production. This will include overseeing production, editing, dissemination and archiving of high-quality photo and video documenting. • Support with media monitoring and analyzing social media analytics. • Provide visibility and communications support for events and high-level visits. • Provide photography, videography and video editing services, if required. • Collaborate closely with the UNDP Country Office Communications Unit, M&E, External Relations and other teams daily to provide communication and branding support. • Coordinate with vendors, such as ad agencies, translators, photographers and videographers to produce content.

Communication, Journalism, English Literature, International Relations, Social Sciences or related field. • No professional work experience is required. • Experience in writing news and feature stories, taking photos and videos, and producing content for social media is desirable. • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills. • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing. • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development. • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel. • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment. • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines. • Sound security awareness. • Have affinity with or interest in development, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

As this is a national UNV assignment, the incumbent will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in Baghdad at the UNDP office. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions

Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA): All national community Volunteers are entitled to a monthly volunteer living allowance of USD 800 USD The purpose of this allowance is to cover the basic living costs of the national UN Volunteer, and her or his family when applicable. The allowance is to ensure that the volunteer can sustain a basic, adequate and safe lifestyle. The monthly allowance rate is a fixed rate for the duty station as established by UNV headquarters. Resettlement allowance: Eligible national UN Volunteers are entitled to receive a resettlement allowance upon satisfactory completion of the assignment. The allowance assists the volunteer to reintegrate into society both professionally and personally upon completion of their UN Volunteer service.
