UNICEF's Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) in Budapest, Hungary provides services to UNICEF offices globally in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Payroll and Information Technology.

How can you make a difference?

GSSC is seeking a communication professional to support the GSSC Communication Team in preparing communication materials, updating the GSSC SharePoint sites and internal and external communication channels, and coordinating staff input to center communications. The Communication Assistant will also collaborate on timely production of communication products and materials, monitor platform usage and provide support to knowledge sharing platforms, including Yammer communities and provide other addition administrative services. The incumbent will implement the tasks in the GSSC communication workplan and strategy as assigned.

Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:

1. Provide content support and maintenance

  • Maintain content for range of web and multimedia platforms to support internal and external communication activities
  • Maintain and update GSSC SharePoint intranet platforms
  • Update multimedia resources to ensure availability of online information is timely and accessible
  • Provide support to content /site owners across the GSSC

2. Research and support communication tools

  • Research, compile and produce reports on web statistics on a regular basis
  • Support the development of web-based applications from a communication and knowledge sharing perspective (e.g., online forms, surveys, etc.)
  • Provide administrative support to the development of special projects on the web or other electronic media (interactive features, online presentations, online reports and publications, etc.)

3. Provide technical support

  • Provide technical assistance on SharePoint tools, content management and knowledge management systems
  • Support the development of specifications consistent with corporate brand guidelines as needed

4. Provide overall support to the Advocacy and Branding Team

  • Help plan and execute visits and events
  • Work closely with other sections to integrate communications to project initiatives
  • Provide administrative support as required
  • Follow Ethical Guidelines on reporting on children

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Completion of secondary education (high school diploma) is required
  • Minimum 1 years of relevant experience in communication related field for candidates holding Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Communication, Journalism, International Relations/Development
  • 5 years of relevant work experience in communication related field is required for candidates without university degree
  • Solid knowledge of Office365 is required
  • Experience with content management systems is required, preferably in SharePoint
  • Excellent written communication skills in English are required
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required
  • Experience within the United Nations or other international organization is an asset
  • Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an asset
  • Knowledge of the local language of the duty station is an asset
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite or similar graphics tools is desirable
  • Shared Service Centre experience is desirable
