You have:

  • Experience working in the UN or other international development organization is an asset.
  • Knowledge of basic professional photography skills is an asset.
  • Experience in using design software/programmes such as Canva, Photoshop, etc.is an asset.
  • Excellent writing skills in both English and Arabic.
  • Experience in managing social media platforms and the website.
  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development.
  • Have affinity with or interest in UN Women (Gender Equality), volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN system.

Contract

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. In support of the Arab Republic of Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women (NSEEW), the work of the UN Women Egypt Country Office (ECO) is grounded in the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Beijing Platform for Action (BPFA). Under the Egypt/UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2023-2027 and the Entity’s portfolio therein, UN Women implements its triple mandate of supporting normative standard-setting to advance gender equality and women's empowerment, implementing national and grassroots programmes grounded in international norms and best practices in partnership with national stakeholders, and strengthening UN system coordination. Over two decades of work in the country has resulted in UN Women ECO consolidating its expertise, partnerships, and investments around three main areas of work: women's leadership and system-wide support to advancing gender equality; women's economic empowerment; and eliminating all forms of violence against women and girls, including harmful practices. UN Women Egypt Country Office in Cairo seeks to hire a communications assistant responsible with supporting the communications unit in implementing communication and advocacy strategies. The communications assistant is expected to support the communications unit in facilitating and organizing public events, press conferences and workshops, as well as developing various communications materials which include brochures, press releases, documentaries and infographics. The communications assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Communication and Advocacy Analyst.

Assist in managing and updating UN Women ECO digital platforms: - Develop monthly social media plans. - Update website on regular basis. - Develop monthly digital media monitoring reports. - Support in designing innovative content. - Respond to direct messages and comments.

Handle media monitoring process - Develop daily media updates for internal circulation. - Draft monthly media coverage reports - Update media database

Draft various communications write ups including web articles, newsletter, stories, etc. as per UN Women’s guidelines. - Translate documents from English to Arabic and vice versa, as required. - Assist in organizing events, press conferences, media interviews, etc. - Support in the development of communications products and audio-visual materials. - Maintenance of Multimedia library and communications shared point. - Participate in communication groups meetings, as required. - Provide administrative support to the communications unit.
