Contract

Placing women’s rights at the center of all its efforts, UN Women leads and coordinates United Nations system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world. It provides strong and coherent leadership in support of Member States’ priorities and efforts, building effective partnerships with civil society and other relevant actors. Together, UN Women in Tunisia and Libya form a Cluster Office with joint management and operational team. The UN Women Tunisia and Libya Cluster Office seeks to strengthen its human resources to effectively and efficiently leverage digital communications to contribute to the advancement of gender equality in both countries. Communication being a multi-dimensional and integral aspect of its interventions, the Communications Assistant would support the Communications Department to increase UN Women’s visibility to reach a wider and diverse audience, raise the voices of women and girls and influence wider conversations on gender equality in Tunisia and Libya. Reporting to the Country Representative, the Communications Assistant supports the formulation and implementation of the communications and advocacy strategies to increase the standing and awareness of UN Women with partners, the media and the public. The Communications Assistant promotes a client-oriented approach in UN Women.

Under the direct supervision of the communications analyst, the communications assistant is responsible for managing and animating social media and content for the direction's websites and for designing promotional materials and products for UN Women Tunisia and Libya.

For this, the communications assistant is required to: - Ensure monitoring of UN Women Tunisia and Libya's e-reputation - Create content: Texts, Photos, and Videos - Identify targets and their needs and select appropriate social platforms - Define the editorial line and write the editorial charter dedicated to social media and define the editorial charter of the direction by being proactive - Implement an action plan (social media planning - Ensure coverage of events and various actions of the office - Produce newsletter - Monitor Media and produce biweekly media scan. - Assist in implementing the communications action plan. - Precisely monitor the evolution and results of these different actions using audience measurement or statistics tools - Establish reporting and follow-up on the activity.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

Results/expected outputs: • As an active UN WOMEN team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered to UN WOMEN and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including: Effective administration of UN WOMEN Tunisia and Libya Office administrative work as well as Country representative logistics and administration • Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment. • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed.

The position is based in Tunis, Tunisia. As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. A Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of TND 1 735 TND is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses.
