Result of Service The work of the consultant will directly contribute to outreach activities in Haiti, specifically in Creole and French and support the UN’s effective strategic communications with all Haitians.

Expected duration Three (3) months full time.

Duties and Responsibilities The Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Haiti is undergoing internal reorganization, to better understand the various activities and many objectives of the office, as well as adequately support the new DSRSG, Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator. In an increasingly complex context of permanent crises, as well as with the modified renewal of the role of BINUH and its DSRSG, the joint RCO/OCHA team is seeking to recruit experts in coordination and communication. The consultant will work closely with the communications and advocacy officer in the UN Haiti Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO). Under the guidance of the communications and advocacy officer, s/he will work on a series of time-bound projects with specific outcomes that will support UN Haiti’s goal of communicating with the Haitian public, as across the UN system in Haiti as One UN.

1. Planning and design of internal and external strategies for outreach - Elaboration of the outreach strategy based on corporate strategic priorities and the UN External Communications plans. - Constructive and timely advice on inclusion of communications components in the formulation of inter-agency intervention and other initiatives to integrate advocacy and communication into all aspects of RCO’s activities. 2. Elaboration and implementation of the RCO publications plan towards national partners - Elaboration and implementation of the RCO publications plan towards national actors and creole speaking/publishing medias. - Identification and development of storylines for publications and substantive articles contributing to debates on key humanitarian, peace and development issues.

3. Supports the outreach of the RCO/UN towards national and international partners - Creation and promotion of campaigns that position RCO/ UN System as a leader within humanitarian and peace arena with local media and influences the development agenda based on current programme and new initiatives. - Contribution to the creation, promotion, and maintenance of public information campaigns on issues including humanitarian activities, Sustainable Development Goals, etc. - Increased coverage and understanding of the RCO’s work in the country or practice area through the development and maintenance of media contacts and providing newsworthy information to the national public. 4. Development, management and implementation of a one-day retreat for the UN Communications Group. - Elaboration of programme and organization of one-day event. - Coordination with UNCG to gather inputs for UNSDCF strategic communications plan. - Hosting of event.

Qualifications/special skills Skills: Skills: familiarity with MailChimp and CMSs is required Academic Qualifications: Academic qualifications: Diploma in communications or related field is required. Experience: Experience: A minimum of five years of professional experience in public information is required. Language: Language: English is an official working language of the United Nations. For this assignment fluency in English, French and Haitian Creole is required
