Organizational Setting The FAO Investment Centre (CFI) provides investment and finance solutions that lead to more efficient, sustainable, inclusive and resilient agrifood systems. Working in over 120 countries, the Centre provides a full suite of investment and finance support to FAO Members. It partners with governments, international and national financing institutions, the private sector and farmers, research institutions and academia to improve the quality and quantity of agrifood investment. The Centre’s four main areas of work include support to strategic investment planning and policy, public investment, private investment, and innovative finance. These are complemented by the knowledge for investment and capacity development for investment programmes that serve to share knowledge, learn and build capacities at country level. The post is located in the Office of the Director (CFID) of the FAO Investment Centre (CFI) at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy.

Reporting lines The Communication and Outreach Officer (Investment Centre) reports to the Deputy Director, Operations, CFI.

Technical Focus Provide outreach, knowledge management, communication and partner liaison activities related to investment support in line with the Centre’s activities and objectives as well as with the FAO Strategic Framework.

Key Results Contribute to the development of communication material and approaches linked to the Centre’s products and servicesto reach out to the Centre’s partner financial institutions and Members.

Key Functions • Supports effective internal and external communication channels, researches and analyses trends and data, bringing together partnerships, and enabling collaboration with partner financial institutions and Members. • Promotes knowledge sharing and develops communication material to support the expansion of new partnerships, and of approaches to enhance cooperation and joint initiatives. • Promotes regular communication and information sharing between the FAO Investment Centre, experts and partner organizations, ensuring timely exchange of relevant project information material, updates, reports, research findings, etc. • Conceptualizes and implements outreach strategies and campaigns to promote activities, highlighting projects and programmes, best practices, and lessons learned. • Contributes to the production of knowledge products (publications, articles and press releases, videos, and related) with internal and external players, showcasing the impact of agricultural and rural development investments. • Ensures that all materials follow FAO guidance on communications, policies and procedures (see FAO Intranet, OCC area). • Liaises with the Office of Communications (OCC) on global or corporate communications issues/events/products etc. of Organizational or global importance, to develop for outreach through global channels managed by OCC. • Coordinates the planning and organization of meetings, capacity-building initiatives, events, high-level conferences with partners to promote knowledge sharing and alignment of missions. • Contributes and oversees the Centre’s information sharing platforms to foster increased collaboration with partners and facilitate access to knowledge material. • Performs other related duties as required.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements • Advanced university degree in information science, journalism, communication, political science, international relations, business administration, project management, or other related fields. • Five years of relevant experience in knowledge management, outreach, information management, and communication in both the private and the public sector. • Working knowledge (proficient – level C) of English and limited knowledge (intermediate – level B) of another official FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).

Technical/Functional Skills • Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions. • Extent and relevance of experience in the field of information management, outreach, publishing and communication and event management in organizations, particularly at international level. • Extent and relevance of experience in supporting multilingual and multimedia communication and outreach campaigns as well as events at global, regional and country level. • Extent and relevance of experience in contributing to written and video materials for a wide variety of audiences, investment and financing as well as development cooperation organizations, and non-technical stakeholders. • Knowledge of FAO corporate publishing and communication policies is considered an asset. • Knowledge of investment, agribusiness and finance subject matters and exposure to International Financing Institutions (IFIs) and familiarity with related information sources. • Experience in working with International Financial Institutions (IFIs) such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), World Bank, and donor partners such as EU. • Practical experience during field assignments to developing countries is considered an asset.
