This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Chief Technical Advisor or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Communication and Digital Media Assistant will:

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of a social media strategy to support the Knowledge Project’s communications objectives;
  • Assist in managing social media accounts and creating appealing posts, visuals, infographics and videos in Arabic and English;
  • Assist in creating and managing ads on different social media platforms;
  • Assist in monitoring the reporting and analysis system of the portal, social and digital marketing such as Google Analytics and social media reporting tools;
  • Be across trends in the social media space, review best practices and make recommendations on how to improve the project’s online presence;
  • Develop a multimedia library including photos and videos;
  • Assist in managing and maintaining the knowledge4all portal and mobile application content in Arabic and English, ensuring that the presented information is accurate and features are user-friendly;
  • Coordinate the consistency and synchronization with systematic methods of developing and uploading content, with authorized approvals and coordinated timely publications;
  • Work closely with all parties involved in the content development process, including the Knowledge Project team, partners and contractors, in line with the relevant authorities and level of involvement;
  • Assist in drafting agendas, concept notes, media advisories, press releases, talking points and speeches in both Arabic and English;
  • Assist in preparing presentations and materials for meetings and workshops to introduce the different knowledge products of the project, including brochures and fact sheets;
  • Draft monthly statistics reports reflecting performance of the Knowledge Project’s social media accounts;
  • Proofread material in both Arabic and English as needed;
  • Perform any other substantive task that might be requested by the Project’s Chief Technical Advisor.

Educational additional comments

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Digital Marketing, Marketing, Media Studies, Advertising, or any other related field;

Experience remark

  • At least 2 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in digital content development, including social media and copywriting; or other relevant programmes;
  • Experience working in the UN or other international development organization is a plus;
  • Previous experience in creating and managing ads is preferable;
  • Possession of graphic design skills is an asset;
  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
  • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;

  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
  • Experience with social media, Google Analytics and other is preferrable;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
  • Sound security awareness;
