NRC is looking for a Communication and Advocacy Adviser to join the Afghanistan mission. The role holder will support with the development, coordination, and delivery of communications, media, and advocacy activities. He/she will be responsible for initiating and delivering high quality media, communications, and advocacy products and resources to a wide and diverse range of audiences. **This position is only open to Internal Candidates, who are Afghan Nationals**

What You Will Do

  • Media and communications strategy development and implementation.
  • Advocacy strategy support.
  • Communications, advocacy, and media products development and production.
  • Media, visibility, and communication products drafting, distribution, and follow-up.
  • Donor visibility and communications content quality.
  • Case study and story identification and development.
  • External and internal network building.
  • National and international media engagement.
  • Training and induction for staff.

What You Will Bring

  • Journalism and/or media management experience.
  • Communications experience in a humanitarian early recovery/emergency context.
  • Humanitarian work, and vulnerable and displaced communities knowledge and exposure.
  • Afghanistan context and the Afghan humanitarian community response experience and knowledge.
  • English fluency, both written and verbal.
  • Local language fluency (both Pashto and Dari).

It also has complementary activities in other technical sectors, such as Water Supply, Sanitation, and Hygiene; Livelihoods and Food Security; and Camp Management services in urban displacement and out-of-camp settings.
  • Meaningful work that responds to the diverse needs, priorities, and concerns raised by beneficiary communities. NRC Afghanistan meets immediate humanitarian needs, prevents further displacement, and contributes to durable solutions. The organisation strives to influence wider policy and strategy in the interests of people who have been forcibly displaced, promoting humanitarian access, humanitarian protection, and long-lasting solutions that help families restore their lives and integrate into local society, and improving the wider quality of response.
  • NRC is currently supported through multiple institutional, bilateral, and multilateral donors. These include the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the European Commission-Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection, the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation, the Danish International Development Agency, U.K.’s Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration, the E.U. Directorate-General for International Partnerships, and UN agencies such as the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs’ Common Humanitarian Fund, the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, etc.
