Cloud Reliability IT Assistant

Result of Service - Assist on migration of missions to UNGSC Hybrid Cloud. - Assist on UNGSC Hybrid Cloud application onboardings.

Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all Special Political missions, Agencies, Funds and Programmes of the UN system worldwide.

This position is located in the Platform Support Unit, Infrastructure and Operations Section, within the Service for Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies at the UNICTF in Valencia, Spain.

The Incumbent reports to and works under the supervision of the Chief, Platform Support Unit.

Within limits of delegated authority, Cloud Reliability IT Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: - Collaborate on the management of cloud infrastructure for the UN Secretariat, including about 90 subscriptions/accounts in two public cloud providers: Azure – AWS. - Actively monitor system health and performance, to ensure high levels of availability, performance, and security. - Develop code for Configuration management and Infrastructure-as-Code. - Define and automate processes to improve the administration of our infrastructure. - Help to architect and build cloud solutions, including cloud adoption plans, cloud management and monitoring, new cloud technologies integration, and data center migrations. - Provide recommendations for cost optimization. - Draft technical documents to support administration activities. - Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time. - Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours. - Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems. - Share technical expertise to other team members. - Performs other related duties as requested.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: High School Diploma or above is required. Experience: At least seven (7) years of progressive experience with Linux and/or Windows operating systems management is required. Experience in in the deployment & administration of IT architectures based on public cloud providers (Azure and/or AWS) is required. Experience in infrastructure-as-code and/or Configuration Management solutions (Terraform/Ansible) is desirable. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
