What we do

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Purpose of the position

The Cloud Lead looks after the cloud infrastructure and the required tools for its management.

As a specialist in cloud infrastructure, the Cloud Lead provides the infrastructure cloud environments needed for projects and applications. They provide management tools to administrate those environments. Within this context, the Cloud Lead handles the core elements of the infrastructure as well as the virtualization tools and automation process.

They will have the role of technical lead within a team of specialists. With this team, they will implement the cloud infrastructure, the tools and build the process needed for the management of it all whilst bringing their expertise to the definition of user guidelines.

They will give advice and bring their knowledge and skills to new projects within the organization. They will validate the integrations within the infrastructure whilst respecting the established regulations. They will support the operations teams and will bring them their expertise when it comes to problem solving.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Guarantee the evolution and optimization of the ICRC infrastructure and management tools;
  • Guarantee the consistency and consolidation of new cloud management tools installations;
  • Anticipate needs in terms of cloud IaaS solutions;
  • Bring new solutions and new designs to answer to the evolving needs of the organization;
  • Ensure the technical coherence and integration of infrastructure projects;
  • Within the Cloud team, prepare all cloud infrastructure changes, implement them, and write them;
  • Handle potential issues linked to the cloud and its management;
  • Contribute to the definition of standards and architecture conventions;
  • Ensure operational processes for cloud collaborators;
  • Prepare content, support and documentation for operational teams;
  • Flexible and capable of working with a certain level of uncertainties;
  • Available to travel on an ad-hoc basis to meet with partners.

  • ICT Transversal: interacts with all ICT colleagues.
  • Relevant Business Units that need support with clouds fields.
  • With the different concerned suppliers and technical partners.

Education and experience required

  • Information Technology Engineer degree (or equivalent);
  • Minimum 10 years in the IT domain, more than 5 years in cloud services implementation and management;
  • Excellent command of English and French.

Desired profile and skills

  • In-depth knowledge of cloud environment;
  • Hands-on experience in designing, implementing and solving Azure Cloud Infrastructure issues;
  • Hands-on experience with implementation and/or migration in enterprise-scale environment for an Azure hybrid cloud project;
  • Knowledge of the main Azure service (VM, AKS, DBaaS, Application Gateway);
  • Knowledge in encryption for Azure Paas and Saas service (Vault, BYOK);
  • Good know-how of Terraform/Arm template for Azure infrastructure;
  • Understanding of Cloud Adoption Framework and Enterprise Scale reference architecture;
  • Hands-on experience in designing and deploying Automation and CI/CD for Azure Cloud infrastructure and services;
  • Knowledge of containerized applications management;
  • Knowledge of project processes and associated quality rules and operating constraints;
  • Great teammate with good listening and communication skills;
  • Excellent social skills, able to coordinate players across different teams, with no direct reporting relationship;
  • Curiosity about humanitarian action;
  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently;
  • Strong analytical demeanor;
  • Communication skills and ability to negotiate;
  • Good organizational skills.
