Climate Change Specialist
Organizational Setting
The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (GORTT) is undertaking its readiness activities for accessing Green Climate Fund (GCF) resources for addressing climate change. The GORTT has received funds from the GCF to fund a project that will involve strengthening capacity of the Government to access climate finance through extensive stakeholder engagement, with the main objective of improving the monitoring system for climate change impacts on the agriculture sector in Trinidad and Tobago. The activities under this project will provide important baseline data and information that would be useful for future decision making on climate change priorities in the agriculture sector.
Reporting Lines
The Climate Change Specialist will report to the FAO Representative in Trinidad and Tobago, the Lead Technical Officer in the Food and Agriculture Organization, the Project Coordinator and the National Designated Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (Ministry of Planning and Development).
Technical Focus
Climate smart/resilient technologies for agriculture
Tasks and responsibilities
- Prepare content for awareness raising materials (including brochures and fact sheets) on the importance of keeping data records and on innovative climate smart/resilient technologies for agriculture
- Contribute to the planning and preparation of presentations (inclusive of PowerPoint presentation) for 4-5 sensitization and capacity building workshops on the importance of keeping data records and on innovative climate resilient technologies
- Participate in the 4-5 sensitization and capacity building workshops
- Contribute to the workshop report
- Provide support to the Project Coordinator, FAO Representative, NDA and LTO where necessary for the successful execution of sensitization and capacity building activities for farmers and other stakeholders
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
- Advanced University degree in agriculture, climate change or related area
- Demonstrated knowledge of climate resilient technologies for agriculture.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience
- National of Trinidad or resident in the country with a regular work permit.
