How can you make a difference?

• Coordinating with UNICEF Country offices in South Asia to research, consolidating data and information and conduct a mapping exercise of climate policies to date to determine the level of child and youth inclusivity in diverse sectors.
• Conduct an analysis and policy note detailing results of the mapping focus on key sectors (i.e. WASH, Education, Health).
• Providing technical support to the Climate Change and Environmental Degradation Unit for planning and programming.
• Support the development of investment cases on building climate and environment action with children and young people.
• Support the development of knowledge products on climate, energy, environment, and disaster risk reduction as required.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Strong communication skills, written English skills, and ability to write clearly, succinctly and for a variety of audiences

Knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and computer skills such as SharePoint

Knowledge of and interest in South Asia news is an asset

Strong research and analytical skills, including the ability to distil lengthy and often complex content into brief summaries

Prior experience with climate, energy, environment and disaster risk reduction in developing country contexts would be a considerable asset

Have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother or sister) working in any UNICEF office; and

Have no other relatives in the line of authority which the intern will report to.

Education:

Enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate or Ph.D. degree programme or have graduated within the past two years in business, economics, development and/or environmental sciences and related fields.

Language proficiency:

Fluent in English, spoken and written

Working Conditions

The intern will be remote based and work from home. The intern will work and report to the supervisor of this internship, the Climate Change and Environment Degradation Advisor in ROSA. The intern is not expected to travel during the assignment. The intern will be expected to participate in UNICEF meetings of interest to the student, including the seminar series for UNICEF interns. Guidance will be provided on a regular basis.
