OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The Department of Information Management and Technology (IMT) has an operational and strategic role. On the one hand, the department provides relevant, quality, reliable and cost-effective IT services in order for the Organization to achieve its health mandate. On the other hand, it aims to be a strategic enabler for WHO by creating partnerships with business units (administrative and health technical), capturing business needs, establishing and managing projects to address these requirements. The Chief Technology Officer sets the overall technology direction to deliver the Information Management and Technology strategy and meet the needs of the Organization. It provides services and underlying technology platforms for digital workplace and enterprise information systems through the following teams:

i. Application and Information Management: Manages enterprise applications, platforms and the development of information systems that support the digital transformation;

ii. Architecture and Infrastructure: help sets the overall technology architecture and standards and manages technology infrastructure foundation;

iii. Workplace and Collaboration Services: Manages technology platforms and services for a digital workplace, including tools for end-users and collaboration services;

iv. Operations and User Support: Support and operates IT services and technology platforms; supports users for issues and requests related to IT services and corporate business processes.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the direct supervision of the Group Lead (Infrastructure and Operations Management) and the overall supervision of the Team Lead (Operations and User Support), the incumbent will ensure delivery of workplace technologies to end-users are based on approved standards and methods. The incumbent will be required to work with IMT colleagues in HQ andother offices to ensure that software applications and operating systems arestandardized and configured based on organizational requirements, in line with IMT security policies and procedures.

- Implement the latest software technologies (including SaaS solutions) for client workstations globally based on WHO business requirements ensuring optimum integration with other standard technologies.

- Automate the installation and deployment of software packages,standard tools, and end user applications.

- Support end user client workstation environment ensuring deployment of regular patches and software updates to all managed desktop workstations globally.

- Test, customize, and package workplace core software technologies,windows upgrades, and other software deployments and updates.

- Support software license provisioning of various SaaS enterprise solutions as per business need.

- Evaluate non-standard software requests in line with business needs, recommend solutions, and update the list of standard software as required.

- Configure and implement the workplace active directory and enduser profiles.

- Resolve managed desktop issues relating to operating system, Direct Access and software, maintaining organizational and user file shares, permissions, quotas and DFS.

- Prepare relevant documentation and update SOPs where necessary.

- Implement tools and process to meet SLAs/OLAs and other key performance indicators are met.

- Work in shifts as required to support extended operating hours.

- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential:

- University degree in computer science, telecommunications, or information management, or related discipline. Desirable:

- Relevant professional training and/or certification (e.g. Microsoft Certifications, ITIL Certifications, etc.).

Experience

Essential:

- At least 2 years experience in the area of ICT operations and support, including:

--> Systems Administration and Operations - intermediate level required;

--> ICT Platform and Software Engineering - intermediate level required;

--> ICT User Support and Training - intermediate level required;

--> Technical Documentation and Communication - intermediate level required;

--> Applications and Software Packaging - intermediate level required;

--> Extensive experience of application management, configuration, automated installations. Desirable:

- Experience working in an IT environment in a large national, multi-national or international organization and familiarity with the UN system.

Skills

--> Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Apps and other cloud-based productivity tools.

--> In-depth knowledge of all Microsoft Windows operating systems.

--> In-depth knowledge of Windows Active Directory technologies.

--> In-depth knowledge of Group policy management, complex scripts, software center, BitLocker.

--> Strong knowledge in networking methodologies especially relating to Remote Access and VPN.

--> Excellent understanding of file permissions, file sharing, quotas & Distributed File systems.

--> Ability to acquire an understanding, identify underlying issues or causes, and resolve complex problems.

-->Skilled in application management, configuring, automating installations, and ensuring the functioning of corporate legacy applications in the new environment.

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at MYR 122,690 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
