The IRC works with government bodies, civil society actors and local volunteers to help refugees, asylees and those with Special Immigrant Visas translate their past experiences into assets that are valuable to their new communities. In Denver and other offices across the country, the IRC helps refugees and asylees to rebuild their lives through services and programs that assist with initial resettlement through longer-term integration. Presently, these services are case management, employment services, psychosocial support, family stabilization, health coordination, health insurance literacy, family reunification and programs for children and youth. The Denver office also has a legal services program to provide pro bono legal representation to survivors of torture, as well as direct legal services for family-based immigration.

INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW: The Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning Intern will support with various tasks that advance IRC’s Strategy 100 ambition to raise program quality by ensuring our clients have power and influence over the decisions that affect their lives. Specifically, the intern will support the successful implementation of various focus groups, community meetings, and surveys that will inform project/program design and implementation. The intern will work closely with the Client Responsiveness Focal Point to understand the needs and preferences of our diverse client base and make informed recommendations to various stakeholders. This internship requires in-person availability to support data collection; weekend availability on occasion preferred.

COMMITMENT: 15-20 hours per week

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Contribute to developing tools that support data collection and analysis.

Assist with documenting and analyzing data collected through various feedback mechanisms.

Support with identifying gaps in services and providing recommendations for improvement.

Draft reports for diverse stakeholders on the results of feedback mechanisms.

Conduct desk research on community resources, potential solutions, and best practices.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

The Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning Intern will gain first-hand experience with implementing the Accountability to Affected People (AAP) framework at a humanitarian organization. In particular, you will gain an understanding of participatory evaluation methods and DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) strategies. You will gain experience with feedback planning, collection, and analysis, as well as be given the opportunity to identify gaps, ideate low-resource solutions, and follow through with implementation.

REQUIREMENTS:

Required Skills:

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; Completed coursework in Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL) preferred, but training can be provided if required. - Experience with qualitative data analysis. - Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. - Comfort communicating and collaborating with diverse populations. - Ability to work independently on projects with limited supervision.

Preferred Skills:

- Proficiency in Arabic, Swahili, Tigrinya, or Dari/Pashto. - Reliable vehicle to provide transportation to clients on occasion.

SUPERVISION: This position reports to the Client and Community Engagement Specialist.
